I'm going to be in NYC during game 1, and I just wanted to know from anyone here if they know of a bar that caters to Blazer fans or that Blazer fans go to in the city.

If not, what's the best place to watch hoops?

Could ask Kingspeed since he lived in New York for years; but I think he is in flight to Dallas.

New York has everything there has gotta be a Blazers bar or at least an Oregon sports bar there somewhere.

FYI...Therapy in Hell's Kitchen is a gay bar....not a Portland bar!
And you know this because...you are a friend of Speed? :)

Just kidding. Welcome to the Board!

If that IS a gay bar, and you know that....That's one dirty trick.

I like it! Rep'd

Go Blazers
I'd be willing to bet maxie knew that! Nice trick indeed. ;)

This is completely unhelpful, but I heard about a bar that was very duck-centric and was big on blazers too. It was a few years ago and having never been to new york I didn't retain the name or the location. It is out there somewhere though. Might as well walk around around and look for it, right? How big could that city be anyway...

This is also completely unhelpful, but I ran in to a couple guys at a Blazer game (at half time in the 300 level smoking section......aka...PARTY) that were from NY and they swear that there's a nice little following for the Blazers in NY. I asked them "how" and I asked them "why" but I never received any kind of valid info. But again and again, these guys swore that there's a weird little Blazer following in NYC. I guess you'll have to dig a bit deeper.

Ohh yeaaaaahhhhh. I know which place you're talking about. That place on that street across from that building with that sign on it. Got it. I'll see you there!

No no no. It's the one next to that.

Just find a good sports bar. The game will be on. There are just as likely to be as many sports fans rooting for the Blazers as the Mavs. In fact, I'll bet more Blazers fans than Mavs fans in NYC. Especially if they are betting on the game, they'll be taking Portland, so that's a rooting interest right there. And after you waltz in wearing your Blazers gear and buy a round for the house, they will all be Blazers fans!

This is easy. My favorite bar to watch games in is Blondies. Great wings and of course, great blondies (chocolate chip squares, not girls). I once watched a game there with Jerry Buss who was in town for some owners meeting.

Have fun!

And yes, Therapy is a gay bar a couple blocks from my home there and not where you want to go to watch basketball.

Oh and my second favorite place is Hooters on West 56th but Blondies is definitely my first recommendation.

How long has blondies been around I think I've been there

X

Where'd you end up going?

yesterday was raining harder than i've ever seen it in NY. just coming down, thunder, lightning, it was bad. i had two friends who came over, walked in drenched, and said "there's no way we're going back out there." so we just watched it at my place. but i'm planning on going this weekend.

Cool. Hope you like it. Don't know how long it's been there.

Eric, you know of any places in DC/Alexandria?

In my 13-year exerience living in NYC, it was difficult to even find a person that knew who the Portland Trailblazers were, let alone where Portland "Oregon" was located! I once had a guy (quite seriously) ask me if my folks still sat on the porch at night playing the banjo?

Those NY'ers "in the know" however - still today, I'm sure - will say something along the lines of, "Yeh, the Blazers are tough - and that Drexler guy can play!"

Oh well.....

Best of luck finding a bar devoted to watching Blazer games in New York!

:drumroll:
