Look at Kalama, say the boat is your residence and save money on taxes.

No issues I know about.
Depoe Bay is my go to Oregon port. But I would not want to run MarAzul through the hole in the wall. Newport has a deep protected bar.
Kalama? Mars would no like our WA weather.

The trouble with St. Helens is that it is directly downstream from Portland. The liberal cooties wash off and float downstream, and pretty soon your boat is infected.

Just what I was going to say. My friend kept his sailboat there and it worked out great. Nice facilities and not too far from Portland/Vancouver. And Kalama is actually a nice little burg......

No way on Depoe Bay! No way is MarAzul maneuverable enough to make that twist timed with a wave to get in there. Even if it is, the skipper lacks the balls, but then,
MarAzul can't get under the bridge, masts intact either.
If I remember correctly, you have to pay property tax on a boat in WA, isn't that right?

Not 100% sure about my old info, so double check. Best to contact WA state vehicle licensing office.
If your vessel is registered in another state, or is a USCG documented boat, you do not need a permit or registration for the first 60 days.
If your boat is in WA waters for more than 60 days, you need a permit before your 60th day.
You can renew the permit for an additional 60 days.
When the second permit expires, you will need to register your vessel or remove it from WA waters.
In addition to the registration fee, there is a vessel excise tax of .5% of the taxable value of the vessel.
On your property tax question, again double check.
Live aboard houseboats are taxed at the same rate as property; however, it is called a personal property tax. BUT, I do not believe the personal property tax applies to registered vessels used as a live a board. It may have to do with houseboats being permanently moored vs. powered vessels, but that is just my guess.
I would call the marina you are interested in; they should know the latest on the tax situation. I have not lived on a boat for 40 years, but miss it.

Here is a good video of the CG crossing the bar at Depoe Bay.
My worst crossing happened at night after a long tuna trip, in a pea-soup thick fog. I crossed the bar using only the chart plotter/gps and radar. I did no have a visual on anything until I saw the light hanging from under the bridge. We could not even see the rocks on each side. Thank you Furuno!
