Where do you play, how often, and what's your handicap?

In honor of HCP and his Golf Channel gig, and for lack of any NBA news these days.
 
I've been playing for a few years. I usually shoot 90-100.
 
I am a golfer.


When I lived in Portland I played Ghost Creek and Landon Farms quite a lot. For some cheap thrills I likes Heron lakes. For the best golf I would go to Bandon dunes and try to play those courses.

Here in Houston I play Augusta Pines, Redstone and Tour 18 (best holes of other courses on one golf course). The golf course in my community is nice as well.

My handicap is 5. I can't putt worth a shit
 
Im a decent putter. I need to be a more disciplined golfer though. I can hit it straight if I want but I'm always trying to kill it. That never ends well.
 
I don not consider myself a golfer, but I do play golf. Best ever round when I played a ton before the kids and wife was an 88. Now I hover around 100. I live 5 minutes from Broadmoor, Colwood, Rose City, Riverside and Columbia Edgewater. I'll play anywhere, but really like WildWood out on highway 30. I have taken my shitty games to some pretty amazing courses...... Bandon Dunes, Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach, Valhalla, TPC Sawgrass and Royal Montrose and Carnoustie in Scotland. At all of them I felt like Shavlick Randolph at the NBA All-Star game.......... I just didn't belong. Much more enjoyable playing at a local public course with a beercart chic stopping by every now and then, and getting a hot dog at the turn. I just don't take it too serious.

I haven't played in a few years, but I typically shot 90-95, and had a few rounds of low 80s.

My golf partner is a -2 handicap. Yes, you read that right. He's a PGA pro (not a tour pro). Every time he teed it up at a par 3 and some short par 4s, I thought I was going to see a hole in one. He'd almost always have a put of a few inches. He had 13 aces last time I saw him...
 
I started playing since last august, and by playing I mean practicing three times a week and trying to play once a week. Started right around the 100's but now I consistently play in the mid 80s. I've shot 2 over par three times this summer though, but follow them up with horrible rounds. I played Langdon farms all last winter ($25-30 a round), but any other time of the year it's way too expensive. Sandelie in west linn is where I have been playing this summer. Hardest game in the world! Can be soooo frustrating!
 
I get too frustrated for golf. Patience at picking up a sport has never been my thing. I want to be able to grasp things quick.
 
I last played in 1977 when I hit a cow and retired from the sorrow. I've told the story before, but if public acclaim demands it, I can tell it again.
 
Just started playing last year, and I'm kind of addicted to it now. I'm just starting to get under 100 with the eventual blowup or two every nine holes or so. The muni courses in Portland are where I play --- Rose City, Eastmoreland, Heron Lakes and Glendoveer. Broadmoor and Colwood are nice places to hit after work. Langdon is kinda spend unless you go there for twilight. There are a bunch of shorter courses with par 3s-4s on the westside -- Summerfield, King City, Claremont -- that are not bad for cheap golf but they're just nine holes. The number of golfers and rounds being played are declining in the Portland area, so courses are offering pretty good deals to get you to play now. So if you're wanting to learn, then it's as good of a time as any.
 
I'm a golfer. 8 handicap was my lowest index well before a wife, three kids and other responsibilities took me off the golf course. I'm lucky to get out once or twice a month but do wake up every morning wanting to golf. I'll shoot in the 80's at most of the courses I do get to play now and low 90's on the tougher courses. Haven't sniffed a 70's round in over a year and don't expect to anytime soon since I don't expect to see more course time coming in my near future.

Love the damned game though. It's one of the few things in life I never, ever get tired of.

Are you anywhere near The Woodlands? We considered moving there a few years back since we could've sold our place here and bought the same house (or bigger) for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. The 7 country clubs (and ridiculously low membership fee for residents) were a big draw . . . but the heat a killer. Didn't matter though because we didn't get a single offer on our house when we put it on the market. Gotta love CA real estate these last few years . . .
 
Only get to play about 5x a year, but made it a point to play abut every week last year and got down to a 4.4. when I moved out here I joined army-navy cc but haven't played it yet
 
wrong forum, but I play both disc and ball golf. I'm much better at DG

Opposite end of Houston. Woodlands is north of Houston, and I am south. I am about an hour away from the Woodlands. Lovely, lovely city though. When we moved from Portland to Houston, we looked at the Woodlands before we moved. Without knowing ANYTHING about the suburbs, we ended up in a great spot. Our drive is a lot better than it would have been in the Woodlands.
