There is a song writing contest: John Lennon Songwriting Contest

http://jlsc.com/index.php

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997. The Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 categories. The JLSC is open year-round and features two Sessions -- with 72 Finalists, 24 Grand Prize Winners, 12 Lennon Award Winners and 1 "Song of the Year." A portion of Contest entry fees goes to help support the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus

You don't need a professional recording. Entries will be judged on originality, melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). Your songs may be entered in any of the following categories: Rock, Country, Jazz, Pop, World, Rhythm & Blues, Hip Hop, Gospel/Inspirational, Latin, Electronic, Folk, and Children's. Instrumental compositions are encouraged.

George Clinton, The Black Eyed Peas, Prince Royce, 311 and Jim Steinman are some of the members on our Executive Committee of Judges

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

Good, but I think I have heard that somewhere

SPD told me that Mags knows how to play the skin flute.

That's all I got...

With a name like that you should make it to the big time.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
This is the story of Johnny Rhoten
It's better to burn out than it is to rust
The king is gone but he's not forgotten

Hahahahahahaha

Thanks for sharing those mags, mellow songs. I don't know much about sound cloud or transfering wave files onto web pages but my son may help me upload them one day. I've been recording mine for decades. From an old guys perspective,, you could take the tempo up a notch on them. Not a lot, just a bit.

Thanks bro!

We've got some uptempo songs too. These songs are more my flavor. I'll upload the faster ones tomorrow...

Sound cloud is really easy bro. It's a good way to have your music public!

Wait scroll down the page. The last 4 songs are uptempo

Nothing special, love your soul, take a stand and happiness

Free to fly and Solace are really nice songs. Good work young man!

Lennon was a socialist who supported Democrats.

Hey hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today was a Democrat.

Ridiculous! He wasn't ever an American let alone a Democrat. Pete Seeger was a socialist. Lennon was a rich rock star from Liverpool who was in court constantly trying to keep his green card

The claim was Lennon supported democrats. I think he opposed LBJ as did most of america. LBJ was a democrat. Therefore, he didn't support democrats.

I think there is a logical fallacy in there.

Bobby doesn't like turnips. Turnips are vegetables. Therefore, Bobby doesn't like vegetables.

You see how things get all weird when it gets political?
I never said he WAS a democrat. I said he was a "socialist" who supported democrats. Big difference.

Anyway....Sounds like a nice contest that should be kind of cool to see how it turns out.
Maybe Mags could post the results?

I'm a pretty "liberal" for a republican. I honestly think players like Lennon hated all government. Not anarchy, but was intelligent enough to know all parties have their own agendas.

Since Lennon wasn't American, he has no need supporting anything government related imo.

As for the contest, I won't know results until March of next year. Wish me luck!

LBJ was the guns and butter democrat president. Unlike you, he didn't blindly support LBJ.
