It's as plain as day to me that Carter has no business playing. He came back far too soon to appease certain people who think everyone has the same pain threshhold and should be just as productive when injured as when not. Since the ankle injury, Carter hasn't had anywhere near the explosiveness he normally has, which affects his ability to drive and, especially, to defend. Any misstep aggravates it, as he's been seen pulling up and favoring the ankle in pain nearly half a dozen times since returning.

Nets have a couple of stretches with 4 days off between games coming up. They should shut him down completely until January 2nd and see if they can heal the ankle with rest and aggresive therapy. Marcus could use the extra game minutes in the interim to try and get in shape. Then, hopefully, you might be able to bring a healthy Carter and Krstic back around the same time with Marcus well on his way back to form. It's a long shot but the only hope I see for salvaging this season without a major trade or two. This team isn't going anywhere unless health affords Carter the confidence and offensive options to take over a game in the 4th quarter.
