Because he'll likely opt out this summer
</div>

JON is going to get 21+ million dollars a year over the next two seasons. Why would he opt out? I can see the desire of wanting a contract past 2 years, but who in this league is going to pay him anywhere close to that kind of money?

See bolded text.

I dont want O'Neal.... Bring Brand aboard though...

im with claud... elton is the big we want... and he isnt injury prone... besides the season ending injury when and where else has he been hurt? and i think elton's leadership and desire to win will be a great addition to the nets

Any person with a brain would prefer Brand over O'neal.

But we are now talking about, who is possible for the nets to trade for.

Several reports have already stated that Brand aint going anywhere whereas O'Neal has stated he wants to leave Pacers, the Pacers have tried to ship him away as well.

JO might seek for a contract like Carter's. Length and security.

With that said, I do not really like O'Neal as well, he is way overpaid... but if he is the only legit post player(stater+all-star caliber) player we can get.... then damn.... lets get him.

If Brand opts out I would rather pick him up tho.

Every day I thank Basketball God that the Nets never took the plunge on this guy and got saddled with him. (Even though I'm sure they tried very hard to screw up and were saved from themselves.)

The franchise who was stuck with him is laying in tattered ruins.

Remember the year the Pacers won 61 games and made the ECF? That was the last time he was relevant and he shot 43% that season.

You mean that guy that JUST had surgery on his ankle?

Yes, yes. You know the guy, who injured his ankle, but played through pain, and played like a superstar in the last 2 months of the season.

Every player is injury prone in the NBA, since it's a phisical sport. You will turn your ankles, jam your knees, etc.
Some guys play through it, and some sit out.
Change of scenery can change the way you handle it...

He better play like a superstar, he's getting paid like one...

Every player in the NBA is not injury prone. A change of scenery will not fix that. That's just ridiculous thinking.

VC get's paid the same amount as RJ, or Odom for example.

You really don't understand what I meant to say? I say it's all about the way you handle the pain. JO can play 70 games a season with the injuries that he has, if he wants to. Indiana was just not the place where he would want to play through pain.
And for VC toronto was not the place, where he would play though pain. NJ is.

No medical expertise, just gut feeling. Such spectacular healings have happened to some other players, that wanted out of their teams, and got hteir wish.

Have you ever heard of Jason kidd missing a game with a migraine?

Jermaine O'Neal missed half the season because he wanted to get traded? No

I didn't believe it was possible, but you've managed to make this sound even more ridiculous than when you started the thread

Vow, you are pretty offensive... I don't see why. I'm pretty sure the JO trade I proposed was not ridiculous, since I got different kind of replys for it. One said it favoured the nets, others said it favoured the Pacers. What is ridiculous? I'm just trying to discuss nets rumors, and you are dissing me. why?

OK then. Why would this upstanding player who according to you has been jaking it for the last four years magically "heal" himself to play for the Nets? And why would the Nets shell out the dough for a shitheel like that?

Yes the JON trade you proposed was ridiculous. His salary is horrible and your basis for wanting to trade for him is a gut feeling that a change of scenery will make his past 4 seasons a mirage.

There is no balance to the risk/reward equation in acquiring JON. At his best, he was a soft, fade away shooting, inefficient big that performed worse in the playoffs than in the regular season.

Idc how healthy O'Neal is I'd take Brand over him anyday.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Master Shake @ Jun 1 2008, 09:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Brand>JON.</div>

I totally agree that Brand >> JO
That's why I proposed RJ + Sean + pick for Brand, and only Marcus + pick + expirer for JO.

I think cpawfan obviously underrates JO, when he says that my offer, with the scrubs we give up in the trade is ridiculous.

Yes his contract is absolutly crazy, but his stats before this season (~20p/~10r/>2b, every year between 2000 and 2007) are legit.
The best case scenario is of course, that he opts out, and we can get him in a sign and trade, with his contract starting at about 10-13mill, but that's pretty unlikely, since he wont leave that 2 year 40 mill contract on the table. In that case our offer would also look better, since we could leave Hassell out of the trade, who is not expiring yet anyway, so the salary, indy has to take on, would only be 6mill for stro, and a few bucks for the guaranteed part of KVH's salary.

Regardless, his knee is broke.

That's absolutly true.
(but still gets spectacular amount of blocks somehow)

look... if JO made like 9-11 million a year... i wouldnt mind taking the risk... but at 20+ million... forget that... not worth riskin cap space and brand is the better bet... id rather pay brand 20 mill a year then JO at 15 mill a year

and JO doesnt even get raves bout his character... brand does... and we all know thorn... he also looks at the personality of the player... not just the skill set
