Yangervis Solarte was a late scratch today, and Girardi explained why. “When he dove for the ball the other day, he was a little bit sore – maybe a little sorer than he led on,” he said. “I watched his BP today, and he just didn’t look quite the same swinging. I talked him and I had some of my coaches talk to him, and he said it wasn’t 100 percent, so I decided to scratch him, telling him that, ‘You get today off, you get Monday off, and maybe it’ll be back to 100 percent (on Tuesday).’ He had a test done, and the test came back good. There’s no damage to his shoulder, he just jammed it a little bit and we’ll have to get through it.”

"He's sore from yesterday getting hit (by a pitch)," manager Joe Girardi said of Gardner. "He had X-rays and those came back negative. He'll go through treatment (Sunday) and see if he's available to me later on. He did talk about how it felt better than he anticipated this morning, which was a good thing, but he's still sore."
