I am just curious to know why Christians love looking at the amazing beard of Jesus while Muslims threaten to murder everyone over an image of Muhammad.

Maybe you should google when Muhammad lived and when cameras were invented.

Photographed? Hell they bitch about anything the Infidel does.

lol, if he was actually curious he would have just googled it. i have a feeling this isn't over

I of course looked this question up long ago, it just makes me wonder if the fear of idolatry should be considered higher or lower today. I mean do people really worship images, there is a strong case to made that the way people gawk over celebrities can certainly be considered idolatry. Then there are the sane people who look at the images such as my avatar pic and say that is a nice image of Muhammad talking to an Angel.

This is the problem that westerners wrestle with. To try and apply western mindset to eastern thinking will not compute. You want to examine the small details like pictures, while failing to comprehend how a father can talk his child into strapping on a bomb and exploding it and themselves in a large crowd.

People need to read the Quran. That will help with perspective.

They believe that if you photograph them then the lack of refection will prove that they have no soul.

If you looked it up, then you didn't bother to read past the crib notes.

People do not worship icons anymore. The Islamic tradition is stuck in the past, like all traditions are. It has nothing to do with sanity.

There's value in knowing the small details. It discourages people from making sweeping generalizations.

And I'd love to hear why you think people do suicide bombings.

Lets try to be civil in this thread, please.

Dude, you have no idea what happens in this OT section. I'm the resident "Let's keep the discussion on Islam civil" guy.

How did a person with 31 posts in 8 years get to be a mod?

He finally completed the rigorous testing process.

Hey Alex, nice to meet you, what forums do you moderate?

Strict muslims do not believe in progress. Or at least they have a different definition of progress.

Human portrait art is pretty boring, I'm not about to kill you for doing it though, feel free

If you are serious, read a few of these

The last one is an ok overview of suicide bombings, but there are better. If you bother to read any of this material, as I have, than you will have a clearer understanding of where my opinions are derived.
