ESPN zoomed in on the bench in OT and Greg was up clapping the guys on. He was in a suit but he looked pretty thin in the face and seemed to be in good spirits. Definitely a good sign.

In the last few home games, he's been in the pre-game huddles and definitely is laughing and smiling and palling it up with the uniformed players. He looks to be part of the group in a real way.

where have i seen that picture before?

the last 4 years

Great to hear. Hopefully his mind is in the right place and we can get a couple healthy seasons out of him yet. I still believe in you Greg!

Not really. For the most part, when Greg was injured he was nowhere to be found. He's been more visible this year. My guess is that it wasn't his choice. He didn't look very happy to be there at first. More and more though, he's looked more engaged. Don't get me wrong, he's still not exactly waving a towel with Patty down there. But at least it doesn't look like he's pouting anymore, and you see him talking to his teammates more. I still think we throw the QO at him and he's gone after next season. He'll be UFA, and no way he signs with Portland. He'll want to put P-Town, Sam Bowie, and Dr. Don Roberts in his past.

Yeah, he was sitting next to Gerald Wallace.

what exactly is odens progress so far? hes not able to come back this year is he?

Cho was interviewed a couple days ago on the news and he said that Greg recently has gotten off the crutches and is doing non-weight bearing exercises.

Said hes working really hard and progressing well.

My guess is he comes back in November or December. His agent said that they're planning on a nine month recovery time which would put him on the floor by the start of training camp next season, but I think that is a bit optimistic.

I really don't see that happening. The Blazers will extend the QO, but Greg will get offers from other teams and from the Blazers for more money and longer years that would make it really dumb for him to pass them up just to be a UFA. I'd expect him to want there to be an option year as soon as allowed by the new CBA so that he can get more money if he gets over the injury bug and starts moving towards being a dominant player. The Blazers have treated Greg well and my bet is that he wants to prove that he was worth the pick.

I had the unfortunate experience of suffering two serious back injuries in car accidents that kept me from participating in life for about a 2 1/2 year stretch. The whole process was very very hard to deal with mentally. Especially during the first 6-8 months of each year long rehab I preferred to stay away from friends and family so I didn't have to talk about my pathetic state. I just took things one day at a time doing what I had to do. As a return to health drew closer, I started reaching out more as I actually had something positive to talk about.

It's good to hear that Greg is rounding the corner in his rehab process and that he seems to have kept his sanity. I'd absolutely love to see him prove all his doubters wrong. Btw... I'm out the door going on a 40 mile bike ride :smiley-pleased:

can someone explain to me how Greg's own bone structure and awkwardness is the fault of Portland, Dr Roberts or Sam Bowie?

Of course they have nothing to do with each other. But he's become a National Punch Line, and is compared to Sam Bowie ALL THE TIME. Especially now that KD is looking more like MJ. He will always be compared to KD, but even more so if he stays in Portland. And I think he wants a fresh start, nothing personal against Dr. Roberts. He's an East Coast Guy also. I don't think he really likes being out here. And I think he's been hurt by all the criticism. He probably feels like he's been picked on. Just my opinion.

He'll be compared to Sam Bowie and Durant, no matter where he goes. Just in the same way that Kwame Brown sucks big time no matter what franchise he "plays" for.

You know nothing about Dr. Roberts, yet you make 3 pretty big assumptions about him.

just your opinion that Greg is an East Coast guy (despite never living there) and a whole lot of other negative speculations based on your feelings that he's very emotionally tender. got it

Opinions and assholes, everyones got one!

Oden's PER is surprising.

His last healthy year he was grabbing 8 boards/per while fouling out nearly every game. If he wasn't playing the garbage man role his (ISO) post game was painful to watch.

Does PER include just fouls by him, or also fouls against him? If both, then one made up for the other. Opponents had to foul him because he tried a bold move every time. He hasn't learned the subtle stuff.

I am so glad Oden is back from rehab, it sounds like they got him back on track in record time, given that he was a junk food loving alcoholic just about a month ago according to some...

I think he was on the Charlie Sheen "clean in a day" program.

If Sheen gets fired, Oden could slide right into that role and make more money than he does here. He wouldn't have to act.
