Well I only qualify for half of your question. I had a prescription for mine when I took it and it does help. I took two doses daily - one in the morning and one at around noon if I recall correctly. It does help with focusing at least in my experience (but of course I do have ADD). I am not sure how much it would help someone who doesn't have ADD.

Adderrall does have some serious side effects and some of them are listed at http://www.drugs.com/adderall.html and there are concerns about long term effects on the heart and stroke possibilities. I would not advise using it unless you have serious concentration issues.

Its been big on college campus for a long time. Its alright, makes you focus on anything and everything. Once you start doing something there is nothing that gets in your way. Its a bitch to sleep on. Fun smoking weed on, but don't drink on it. When I did my face got bright red and had a really bad fever.

I've never taken it, but I had a roommate once who would sell his prescription to other people for a very high price. I'd like to see what being on it is like. I have a pill called a "Yellow Bullet" which does something similar but it has ephedrine in it so I'm afraid to take it because of hurting the heart.

But it won't help us overtake India and China. Sorry.
