Tuesday has announcements of the release of the new iPad. The tower should be released as well. It seems things are looking good!

Siri stock at 4.10! Ok, so I am a small timer. I did buy it at 1.25 though. A nice profit.

Kramer thinks this stock should split 4-1; so it will entice retail markets. Personally I think this is a bad idea. I think lower priced stocks are a bit more volatile.

Wow the 13" macbook pro is only $1,299 and has more memory, battery life, less weight, ram and speed! 15" is only $1,999.

Wow Mavericks is FREE!!!!! Great price point!

That is a nice surprise. Maybe they're going to start treating OSX just like mobile. iOS and Android (and I assume WP) are free, why not OSX? You get free software upgrades on a $500 phone, why not on a $2000 laptop.

Exactly! This will give the consumer more incentive to buy their computers. And because most the window's units; they cannot offer free OS. Big advantage for apple, IMO.

Also, they've been refreshing the OS every year. Most people don't upgrade their OS, at least that I know. I know I've never bought a new version of OSX and I'm on my 4th ibook/macbook/mbp. Now everyone with a reasonably new Mac will be (or can be) using the same version, which is probably good for selling apps.

About to move to Mavericks......hope S2 can handle it. I'd be nothing without this place FAMS!

Only $1999!

That's REALLY expensive. More money than I have. Maybe barfo can afford it, though.

Downloading Mavericks on my laptop now :)

Thats what I thought. I bought a 17" laptop a few months ago for just over $400. I'd have to trade FIVE of those in to downgrade to a smaller sized apple version. No doubt Apple makes cool stuff but you pay a hefty premium for it.

$1999 is the 15" model and pro. That would be upgrading from your $400 piece.

Then remember that a $100 upgrade every year for the os

Mags, you install Mavericks yet? I'll probably give it a week or so, just in case there are any bugs. I don't have any complaints about my laptop at the moment, so I'd be pissed if the update fucked anything up. I can say that tabbed finder windows is something that I'll find handy. Can't believe it took so long for those.

I'm running mavericks. It's perfectly fine. If you have two monitors/screens, it's a huge upgrade. If you have one and apple tv, you can use your TV as a 2nd screen.

My only gripe so far is that my iWorks won't upgrade to the new version. I got it preinstalled (cost me $99) on my laptop and it's looking like they want to ding me another $60 to buy it again.

I have installed it, but haven't looked at it yet. I was at my son's baseball practice.

Did the update. It's fast on my Macbook. Hey Denny, how can I use my AppleTv to use my big screen as a monitor?

I installed on an older macbook air, got way slower.

Just ordered a new 13" MacBook Pro. Maxed the thing out so it'll be here around Halloween. Last time I maxed out an Apple pro laptop, it lasted eight years before it got too slow to use. I'm hoping I get that much from this one.

Settings -> Displays -> Show mirroring options in the menu bar when enable (checked)

Then you'll see the airplay icon in the top bar all the time.

From that, you can choose an Apple TV and then you can tell it to extend your desktop.

Also, the OS does a bunch of optimization for a while when you first install it. It tells you that you may experience degraded performance until it's done.

Launching Apple Mail the first time requires a full rebuild of your mail index, has to download all the headers from your mail stored at google; can take a while.

Otherwise, I'm seeing no performance issues.
