Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Believing in religion makes people superior now?Anyway, yeah. I think most Christians are "posers," so to speak. Most of them have their faith handed down to them, just like their political views, what college they want to go to, blah blah blah. The point is, they are told why they should believe in something as youths. Maybe not even why, but usually just that they should. My personal problem was that I felt that the only reliable source of Christian doctrine is the Bible. Oh sure, there's other texts out there, but I wouldn't put any faith in them. Some people see the Bible as a "spiritual guide," filled with allegories, figures of speech, and metaphors to convey some sort of story. I just can't see how someone can put their faith in something like that. When I was a Christian, I certainly had faith that the Bible was true. (I didn't believe that the Bible was true only because it said so, by the way.) For some reason, it irks me when a person quotes a Bible verse in their AIM profile and puts something about getting wasted in their away message. I don't know, certainly people will disagree with me.</div>One of the many nice posts ive seen....soo about the 72 virginswhat do female suicide bombers get?is it 72 virgins each? or do you have to share?who would want a muslim virgin anyway, she wouldnt be too open on the whole sex thing, especially because she is still a virgin...i have hundreds of virgins at my skool and havent been laid once by them. Dont take it too seriously

Just because you don't go to church doesn't mean you aren't religious. Haven't you ever heard the quote from the Bible, "God does not dwell in man-man structures" (something like that)?

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

I don't go to church but I'm a Christian and know more than many of the people I know who do go to church. I think I'm turning into one of those guys that has faith in God but no faith in the church. Really I just think the whole denomination crap is stupid.

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

Well, I looked into it, and it's more of a "God can't be contained by something he made" thing rather than a "Don't go to church" thing.if you care

Once again, I'm absoutely the last pesron you want to talk to in regards to the bible.

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

In reality, i would say a good majority of Americans who say they are Christians aren't. When told the real meaning of being a Christian, they say, "Oh, well i guess i'm not then...". It's quite upsetting when you think about it. Having so many people claim to be Christians when they truely aren't, brings sadness to the religion. I, for one, am a Christian and attend church weekly. So there are actual American Christians out there, just not really as many as there claim to be.

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

I think the term "Christian" has become more to desribe being white American than anything else.

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

Going to Church doesn't mean anything.

We live in a nation of Christian posers.</div>Yes i believe many people believe this because once you accept that you are a Christian and take Jesus as your savior...(coming from a religous guy)...People believe that they are automatically going to heaven. But this is not true we are supposed to be changed when accept and not many people realize this and need to start realizing. Also another half of people might believe that by good works we can get to heaven but this is not true... The only way to go to heaven is through Christ the father as it says in the bible. I dont remember the verse atm but if you would like it just pm me...Thanks

Re: Are American 'Christians' a bunch of posers?

I think a lot of people tried to become religious but it was just too much work for them. So in the end, they just call themselves Christians but refuse to do any of the work that comes with being a Christian.
