Politics Are Republicans the actual ‘snowflakes’?

The contradictions here are fucking wild. Just airing your hate out loudly and proudly and claiming it’s because you ‘don’t support hate’. Claiming you don’t do politics while basing your life interactions around the hatred you harbor for people based completely on political opinions.
You really are a special kind of guy.
I am accepting of all colors of people…..I am accepting of all types of sexuality…… my great grandparents came here from Mexico to find a better life. I believe in a women’s right to choose and I don’t believe people should be able to go around with guns assassinating innocent people. I believe Trump fuels EVERYTHING I stand against. You think differently on any of those topics and support that “man” in ANY way……I can promise you that you will not be welcome in my home or around my family.

That’s how it is. It will never change.

If they agree with the hate and racism Trump spreads and support him. That means they believe his message. I have no time for anybody like that in our lives. Use whatever terms you want. My family life as better without that in it, plain and simple.

Or some people just vote party lines no matter the candidate and the message they send.

My uncle played pro baseball and some of his best friends as a player were black. I’m sure he’s not falling in love with the racist rhetoric. But he’s always voted Republican and much of it has to do with church ideologies.

You travel a lot and probably work with camera dude’s from teams in the south or in Texas that are Trump supporters and you’d never know it unless you asked them.

SideNote…..I’ve said on here before, I didn’t vote FOR Joe Biden….. I voted AGAINST Trump. Anybody could have run against him and I would have done the same.

Great points about co workers of mine. Been to meetings and dinners and things are said and I immediately change my view of them and how I treat them. If your uncle feels that supporting Trump and his messages overrides his friendships with minorities, no disrespect, but that’s kinda shitty in my opinion. And if people are weak enough to vote on party lines or whatever it’s called, instead of the actual candidate….there is another trait I won’t have anything to do with. If Joe Biden was like Trump in ANYWAY, I would vote for whatever republican was going against him or independent, or whoever.

If you vote for Trump, you don’t have my respect or will be apart of my life. Quite sure Trump supporters would give a damn….and I am straight with that. We don’t judge people by their color or sexuality or income in my house.

My neighbor across the street and his wife have lived in that house longer than anybody. Retired Sheriff. Respect him for his service as an officer and his age. Called him sir and his wife ma’am.
Things changed when Trump showed up on the political scene. As soon as that fat orange bastard started talking about shit whole countries and talking shit about our vets and all the other hat filled messages we had to endure, this old man put up a HUGE Trump sign. Started wearing the hats……

We completely cut him out of our lives. Don’t even look at him and his wife anymore. Fuck the hate! Wonder if my grandparents were still alive and came over how he would react. Don’t even want to think about it.

I agree almost completely.

Except I’m not losing life long relationships with people over how naive they are. I prefer just not discuss politics with them and if I do I put them in their place and move on.

These are people that held me as a baby, I’ve gone on countless trips with and spent summers at their home in Missouri.

My mom is maybe the most extreme leftist you’ll ever meet and her best friend is her sister in Missouri that is a Trump supporter. They just leave politics at the door. Life’s too short. Love wins out.

Dude I have a coworker that’s a 2nd generation Mexican American that’s a huge outdoorsman that has Trump stickers on his truck. I got a black coworker that’s former military, like career military that’s a big Trump supporter.

Its not all black and white. But there’s a big gray area.

Love it man. Love that you can live your life that way and be content. Thats the most important thing right?

Yeah I don’t ever do politics and religion on social media. Actually this is the only place I have ever voiced my self proclaimed uneducated view on things politics.

But after serving in the Army and traveling around the world for work…..I have seen and heard some pretty bad things.

One of my daughter’s reasons for choosing where she is attending college was that it was the #1 most diverse campus in the country. That means a lot to my crew….. surrounding ourselves with diversity with one caveat (first time I’ve ever typed that word, hope I’m using that correctly) those we surround ourselves will need to be open minded and respectful of everyone else NO MATTER WHAT! We don’t have time for close mindedness. Not an option.

Thats how I was raised and that’s how we raised ours.

And those people would never be a part of my life bro. Give a fuck what you are, if they share that bastard’s values….I don’t have the time.

I would love to have you find out what gray area they grew up in. There isn’t a SINGLE black or Mexican family member or friend of mine that would support that “man”. Would be interesting by who and where they were raised.

I agree with everything you say. But in this world they’re all around the place. I mean shit my first thought when I find out someone supports Trump is that this person is more dumb than I thought they were to begin with. But there’s plenty and the guy got elected as president which says a lot about our country.

Moral of story, if I find out someone is a Trump supporter do I instantly dislike that person? No. That’s what media and politicians want. To divide and conquer.

You ever think people are more complex than that? Like maybe they have a million thoughts, wants, dreams, needs and experiences that you don’t understand because you’ve never seen the world through their eyes, nor have they seen it through yours? And trying to distill that down into two groups of living, breathing fellow humans that you can or cannot associate with is kind of ridiculous?

You're saying that since I don't understand what Trump supporters have gone thru it's "ridiculous"? Right on man...... My family and I won't have to understand....we'll keep living our lives loving others. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

And if the worst part about us is we accept those different from us, I hope the world can learn to accept me and my family.

It's interesting to me that you automatically assume that all Trump supporters also support hatred and bigotry. Do you find it unfathomable that someone could find his rhetoric and character abhorrent, yet still believe his policies to be the best for this country?

What policies? Muslim ban? Mass deportation? Shooting Black Lives Matter protesters? Telling Jews we hate our religion if we don't support him? Outlawing abortion? Banning trans people? His policies are hateful and bigoted.

I don’t really know how to answer this…. If the man you support stands up there and is guilty of everything in @crandc ’s above post and you VOTED FOR HIM…..I just don’t know how to finish this sentence. How can what he has done and said, be what’s “BEST FOR THIS COUNTRY”?

My family hasn’t woken up to a daily barrage of racist/homophobic messages and tweets and interviews and rallys of hate in 4 years….. in MY opinion, THAT’S WHAT’S BEST FOR THIS COUNTRY!
I could give a fuck about the price of gas…. I don’t need nutjobs fired up by this Nazi grabbing their guns and hitting the streets to take over the capital…..THAT NOT HAPPENING IS WHAT’S BEST FOR THIS COUNTRY!

My bad… those weren’t Trump supporters who did that.

I didn't say they are. I simply asked if it's possible that someone might (incorrectly) believe that they are without also being a hateful bigot. I guess it just seems incredibly judgmental to me to assume that everyone who voted for a particular person has the same deplorable social views.

It's VERY judgmental of me! I JUDGE who I let be a part of my family's life, damn right I do.
Put it this way, if they are THAT naive and foolish to see everything that person has said and how he treats others and STILL vote for him regardless if they agree with his racist hateful policies as a goof.....I don't need them in my life in any way whatsoever. Didn't quite understand your question, hope I answered it.

Question to you.....you believe there are people out there that voted for Trump, but don't have the same views as him?

Yes. Unfathomable.

It's mostly white.

not just incredibly judgmental. Also incredibly arrogant and ignorant at the same time. As if others know what others think and believe, without having those direct conversations with those they judge..

If someone in Israel said they are voting for Netanyahu for other policies, it is reasonable and justified to say that person also has responsibility for slaughter in Gaza.

Is someone is voting for Trump because they want tax cuts for the rich they are also responsible for outlawing abortion, overturning marriage equality, banning books and cutting social security. Because those are stated aims.

You are writing off half the country as bigots because of a political choice they could’ve made for any number of reasons. You are blanket-judging millions of people you know nothing about and then actually trying to claim it’s out of “acceptance” and “loving others” with a straight face. You realize there are blacks, gays, hispanic and people of every other demographic that will vote for Trump right? Your inclusivity argument holds no water.
You just don’t want or care to take the time to look at humans as individuals. Too much work. You’d rather just ‘say’ how loving and accepting you are based on a bunch of lame catchphrases and platitudes we can all go hear in a Target commercial. You clearly don’t put it into practice by treating people differently over who they vote for.

What planet do you live on where this was actually a thing? Your family was being cyber terrorized by racist bigots every morning? What the fuck is going on where you live? Have you shared this in the ‘Portland’ thread?

I agree with you....I think that in order to address hate and and as you say divide and conquer, we have o find a reason/way to stand to together against it.

Well here’s the good thing, you on here coming at me and questioning me for not wanting to spend time with Trump supporters and have people who believe that bullshit he’s shoveling in my life….. I can PROMISE you that you wouldn’t want to spend time with me either. How could you? We would have NOTHING in common.
