I might be the only one that feels this way, but I rather just bring JV back at what would likely be the veteran min. and he can fill in the role that he has filled for the last past 2 seasons, a guy that we use to defend quicker pg's and he would mainly be a spot duty third string behind Kidd/M.Williams but he has proven that he can still give you 15-20 minutes, if you need to which is great for a guy playing behind an uproven guy like M.Williams. Those moments where Williams has his rookie struggle we can count on the reliable JV.
Jay Williams on the other hand has a long battle to come with his return to the league and it will be more mental then Phsyical with his type of situation just think of a former Duke' Bob Hurley, who try to comeback form a similar situation. Jay Williams return will be either hit or miss, that isnt what we need in a backup/third string, just reliable.Williams is going to have to show alot for me to want Williams as the third point guard we carry on the roster over JV.
I doubt Jay Williams would be the backup even if he did make the roster, can he score yes...but M.Williams already has better court vision then him. And also with M.Williams being the investment for the future he will need to get the proper minutes now while Kidd is still hear and effective so he can put to use some off the things Jason will be teaching and also learn trial by error, on the job training so to speak
