Are you a BCS buster? Boise St vs Va Tech

It's official the Ducks open with LSU in Cowboy stadium next year.

Where did you hear this? I haven't seen it reported that it's a done deal yet. If it is I recommend that any Duck fan go. That place is UNREAL! Even though we lost I still had a great time.

Did you hit up craigslist?

Ducks, 5 Rose Bowl appearances, 1 Rose Bowl win, 0 National Championships.

Huskies, 14 Rose Bowl appearances, 7 Rose Bowl wins, 2 National Championships (1960 is the forgotten championship by most).

Duck fans need not to forget that it wasn't that long ago that their program was borderline laughable. It's this sense of entitlement and arrogance Duck fans possess that has turned me in to a hater of the program. They need to check themselves. The Huskies have been down for a decade. It's been hard, but don't forget who your big brother is. He'll be coming back soon to right all the wrongs.

As for my perceived love of the Beavers, it's simple. I'm an Oregonian, and the Beavs are my Oregon team. When they play the Huskies, I'm 100% DAWG. Otherwise, I root for the Beavs every week (unless their victory somehow impacts the Huskies).

I'm talking recent success. This isn't the Don James era anymore, long ago has UW been the recruiting power of the left coast. Even the Slick Rick years were a facade, marred in controversy.

Most Dawg fans have an allegiance towards the Beavs. Mainly, because they know they aren't a threat to each other.

As U-Dub coach, Slick Rick won as many Rose Bowls as the Oregon program has won all time.

Ducks are great right now. Have been better than the Dawgs for about a decade. I'm just sayin'.......look over your shoulder, there's a tidal wave coming your way.....

you know.. sometimes the big brother just is past his prime, and dies sooner. But seriously I hope you guys get better soon... I'm sick of this being one sided.

I like the sad face. Such people disappoint Wheels. Shakes his faith in the enduring character of humanity.

lol that... and it reminds me of what I was like when I was 16.

That's a very good point. Living here in Boise, I always hear about how "nobody wants to play us." But geez, they can definitely find better competition than that. I wonder what their rationale was.

Next time I hear this bullshit I'll have a retort ready.

Their rationale is that they don't have to play anyone to get their ranking

Slick Rick has also been a cheater everywhere he's been. Its arguable that the Huskies were the second best team in Washington for much of the Neuheisel era.

I just don't see the Huskies coming. That program along with WSU's is in such a big hole its hard to get out of. Locker was supposedly one of those once in a generation QB's that was supposed to take that program to the promise land. IMO, they'll be lucky to make the Sun Bowl this year, Lockers senior year.

UO is a hot team right now. The style of play, the Nike backing and the facilities are making it a 'sexy' program to play for. Texas, Florida, N. Carolina... Ducks recruiting these days really has no boundaries.

This is what I'm talking about.. now I'm not taking each song as a serious attempt to make the top 40 or something. But look at the Beavers fan song, and tell me how many times it mentions the Ducks vs how many times it mentions the Beavers. Then look at the Ducks song and tell me how many times it mentions the Beavers.

Oh come on now! That Beavers song was specifically about the Civil War! The Ducks song was about the season. Personally I liked the Beavers song better, but that's just me. :)

But still... I mean I think the song talks more about the Ducks than it does Oregon State. And I love the "Triple Dog Dare the dude to fight me" lol *rolls eyes*

The simple fact is this - in the one full year Sark has been recruiting for U-dub, they've been one of the best teams in the nation at it. It takes time to go from 0-12 to dominant. I'm completely aware of this. But it's coming. Sark's ability to recruit in SoCal will be the difference. Especially with the SC sanctions coming.

Washington was ranked 11th in the nation in recruiting for 2010 (Oregon was ranked 13th). Washington has lined up a couple 5 star recruits for 2011 already. I'm just saying.....don't underestimate what Sark is doing up there. Things are going to change quite a bit. In time.

also to add... I dont like the timing of the LSU game for the Ducks.. last time they had a big time opener with almost a new line (Boise St) they didnt fare too well. :sigh: oh well hopefully next years starters will get some valuable experience this year, if the Ducks can get ahead enough in games.

It all depends on what recruiting agency you choose to look at.

One other thing to ponder regarding recruitment is the difference between the kind of offense each team runs. Washington's pro style offense (basically the USC offense under Carroll) will bring in players that want to be groomed for the NFL. Oregon's spread style offense could be considered detrimental to a kid that has NFL aspirations.

Maybe for some players like Receivers I could see that. But their RB's Olinemen, and most recent QB's are getting drafted.

No, this applies to QB's especially. Dixon was drafted, yes, and I'm excited to see him do some thing in Big Ben's place. But as a QB? It's a no brainer. You choose the pro style offense. You know that.

While I agree for a pro style QB you choose a pro style offense, but The Spread QB's are doing just fine being drafted. The HUGE time QB's arent gonna come play at Oregon yes. (unless its a huge time QB like Pryor who might consider Oregon) But you can win without a huge time PRO QB in College.

I don't know. The Ducks style of play would have suited Locker well.

Fortunately, it doesn't matter whether you have an NFL style QB to have a national title contending team. Charlie Ward, Troy Smith, Eric Crouch, Pat White and many others have proven that. . .

While great QB's on shitty college teams that fit the pro QB mold well, like Jay Cutler and Joe Flacco can prosper as well.

College is a whole different ball game, Tebow will prove my point well, while he can flaunt his national title rings to his NFL cohorts.

If a player runs the spread and they truly have realistic aspirations to be a NFL Qb, they better learn how to pass out of the pocket and arm strength instead of worrying about what college they're going to.
