I bought a Bosch dishwasher because every review said it's the best, even though it cost more. It's having third repair in just over three years.

Oh shit. We bought a Bosch about a year ago. For our sake I hope it was just a model issue

Wow, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.

We bought a Bosch dishwasher 5 or 6 years ago and we've loved it. Not a single issue.

We bought a Bosch when we remodeled our kitchen almost 10 years ago. The drain pump took a dump one week after the warranty expired. Apparently, despite following manufacturer's instructions to the tee to use the dishwasher pods recommended, the plastic the pods were made of chewed up the cheap plastic impeller of the drain pump. Took awhile to get the replacement and the total repair bill was about one third of the cost of the dishwasher. We now pour the contents of the pod into the machine and throw the plastic away. But we haven't had a problem since. And it is one quiet machine.

I do recommend All Clad cookware for serious cooks. Be kind to it and it lasts a lifetime. I bought it one piece at a time as I could afford until I had everything I needed, which for me is a lot. And a shout out to Revere Ware copper bottom pans. Mt mother got a set as a wedding present. When I went to college she gave me a small saucepan with lid. Right size to cook single portion of rice or oatmeal or heat soup in pre microwave days. I still have that pan. And use it. Purchased 1950.

Looking for 65" TV OLED.....not into games just cable and some streaming. ANY suggestions?
LG, Samsung, Sony ? thanks
Samsung all day and night son. Open box from Best Buy…… can’t go wrong.

Need a new set of pans but stuck in analysis paralysis.

I got the set of Kirkland pots and pans from Costco and LOVE THEM. Thought I would try those first and then return and get something else if I didn't like them. But they're great! I'm not a cook on @crandc's level but you should try them.

We got hexclad knockoffs by Henckels and they are fantastic at about half the price, iirc. Also at Costco.

I had to get rid of my Bosch fridge after 4 years because fixing it was more expensive than the new LG I ended up getting.

We stopped using pods years ago and just use the powder in the cardboard box (also an incredibly quiet Bosch).

Works incredibly well and we never have problems. Just my experience, but mine is a few years newer.

Same thing with laundry soap.

I'm name brand on higher ticket items like guitars or tools or cars. Not so much on mouthwash or dish soap etc.....clothes needs are simple, they need to last as long as possible so I will spend more for good shoes or T shirts. My biggest snobbery would be ice cream. Lochmead or Hagen Daz or if I have to, Umpqua. Lochmead is the best. All their dairy products are awesome!

Kitchen Aid pro Series stand mixer. On my third. Tried to save $200 once by getting Home Series instead of Pro Series. With the amount of baking I do, burned out motor in a few months.

And my Corolla.

We also got a set from there, it's been 20 years, but so much better than any set of pans anyone else I know has.

I'm not a big fan of the fancy new pan styles personally, but to each their own. IMO, the key is the heftiness of the pans. Could be a pain when carrying them full, but the confidence of having a sturdy pan versus one with a flimsy screwed on handle is nice to have when full of something hot!

Same here with a set of knives. Should probably just bite the bullet and get a set of cutco from Costco.
Get yourself a really nice chef's knife, a paring knife, and a serrated bread style knife. Skip the big fancy sets that usually have half a dozen knives you don't really need. Obviously you can add on some specialty ones, but those 3 should be able to do just about everything you need for normal cooking.

A boning knife and good kitchen scissors would be the next on the "need" list.
