Argentina has a crisis-level labor shortage. They may invade the Falklands, looking for Mexican hedge trimmers.

Down below the equator, they're very proud of their beef. Can you taste some and tell us what it's like?
 
Just got back from the game....... had a fucking blast! What a great environment. Puts US sports fans to shame!

I thought the same thing when I saw our tickets, but they were awesome seats. Can't tell from this panorama pic, but the stands are real steep. You could see everything and felt like you were right on top of the action. That the River Plate Football Stadium in northern Buenos Aires........ an amazing experience! So loud!

Yeah, bigtime. But we never felt unsafe. We were about 15 deep and off to the side from the hooligans. Their army was called Los Burachos de la Tulon. Basically, The Drunks of the Stands. There was so much passion in these fans. Argentina's soccer league has 20 teams and 16 of them are located in Buenos Aires. And they all hate each other. It's awesome. These fans were teaching me all the cuss words to yell at the refs. Crazy part is there is a moat running around the whole stadium to keep the FAMS.....errrr fans from getting to the field.

And they have one end zone contained by a wall on both sides with barbed wire with about 50 cops for the visiting fans. Pretty crazy site. As the game was over all 70,000 plus fans when they were done cheering as the teams walked off the field, just all kinda' sat down. I had no idea what was going on, it was weird. The cops escorted out all the visiting fans out of the stadium and out of the neighborhood and then let everybody leave. We literally sat there for about 45 30 minutes after the match just waiting.

Strange but awesome night!

Do you have any pics for the moat at the arena? After reading this thread, I was actually telling a friend today about the fences and moats, when we were talking about crazy fans. I couldn't find any pictures online though.

With that said, I'd kill to have that experience... you've got a cool job man. The only time I've ever been outside of the states was one time in Detroit (where I was born and have family), and my family crossed the bridge to Canada once as a kid... not exactly an "international experience." The only thing I really remember was eating at McDonald's and looking through one of those quarter-binocular things to look at Detroit, where we just came from across the river...

Those shows on the Travel Channel are killing it nowadays though. Watching Anthony Bourdain get drunk and eat for 30 minutes is surprisingly entertaining, and all that sort of programing makes me want to travel. I've never had the opportunity or resources before, but the law school I'm probably going to has programs a couple of programs in Europe, but they also have a program in Rio. Leaning towards Rio...

Before I got into my line of work the farthest North I'd been was Seattle.......East Boise.......West Seaside.....South San Diego. Tough being away from the fam, but I do love my job. Sounds like you are a squared away guy with a bright future..... I'm sure you'll be traveling soon enough.

As far as the moat, I took no pics of it, sorry.
