ARod...copping a plea ?

I've been following all this BS about Arod as much as possible. I have a question. And I am sorry if it's been asked. How can MLB suspend Arod again over something a Dr is saying about him? Did he test positive on another test? So MLB is going to take the word of a Dr who is trying to stay out of massive trouble over a non test? How does this work for him getting suspended at all? I thought you have to test positive in order to get suspended?

Orlando, this may just be a case of.....guilty by association.

...ORLANDO in the hizzy !

...and oh, no, you don't have to fail a test to be suspended... (see Manny Ramirez)

manny did fail a test but showing estrogen in his blood i believe

I also don't think Bonds ever actually failed a test either but I think growing to the size of the hulk made it obvious. But as rare as it would be........I could be wrong.

Players who felt they were bigger than the game itself who are on THE LIST?

A-Rod, Braun, (can you name others?)/B]

...yes, but that is not the reason why he was suspended.

Testing positive in spring training for a female fertility drug that is used by steroid users to restore testosterone production to normal levels, the 36-year-old Ramirez received a 50-game ban, costing him $7.7 million of his $25-million salary and the Dodgers a potent middle-of-the-lineup bat that took them to their first National League Championship Series in 20 years...copied from LA Times

But again, the drug test is not what brought Manny down... while it is true he failed a drug test, he was preparing to appeal that test, when his own Doctor's medical records revealed that he had taken HCG. That's what ultimately nailed him.

..."just cause" and "non-analytical evidence" is the same clause in the CBA that MLB is using to bust ARod, Braun, and the others.

...hate to say this, but I want ARod to be completely destroyed, publicly humiliated, and after lawyers are through sucking him dry, I hope he's bankrupt.

...maybe then players will think twice before cheating.

I have to agree... and I have been a long time-A-Rod supporter... enough is enough!

I get that Yankee fans hate Arod and why…but I will never understand is why he was vilified before the admission.

I also feel, if they have to pay him they might as well get what they can out of him. His bat is better than the sub .250 hitters that are scattered throughout this lineup. I personally hope he's back in the next week or two and just mashes out of the gate. The team could use it.

It appears to me that Selig and baseball are going to above and beyond with the suspensions knowing full well there's going to be appeals anyway. The 150 games suspension makes no sense at all under the CBA. You have a 50 game ban in place for the first failed test and then it goes from there. I don't remember seeing anything about being able to come up with a random 150 game suspension because you feel players might of lied to you.

haven't seen you in ages... welcome! regarding A-Rod... I agree... I don't know why he was vilified before anything went down... and it would be nice to get something out of him if you have to pay him... BUT... he isn't exactly hitting the ball in A ball... he isn't even in AAA... A ball...

...problem is, some players like Cruz may decide not to appeal because he's a FA next year...if he appeals, it will possibly take months to resolve and with the uncertainty hanging over his head he may find it hard to get a decent offer at all...if he takes the suspension he'll likely be able to return this year and seek out the FA market next year.
...of course, if he does accept the suspension it is an admission of guilt and teams may shy away from giving him a long term contract for fear of future PEDs breakdown...then again, it didn't hurt Melky. (still can't believe Toronto gave him that deal)

I'm sure neither can anyone else. I mean DAMN! 8M dollars for a 275 hitter with 3 HRs & what 30-35 RBI? What a joke.

Thanks for the welcomes. Hope this can be home for a while.

I understand Arod made this bed but I'm rooting for the laundry, and it's clear that he's better than what we're marching out there right now. Even if he comes back a .250 hitter he offers more pop. I'm hoping he has a lot more left in the tank…and if there's a way to free up his contract you weigh that when you get there. For now you embrace him - or at least I do.

If he didn't get suspended he was most likely looking at getting a 5 year deal worth $60 million with the Giants. Maybe even more than that. They have to be happy about that in SF.

Terrific I hope a few others will see it. Hopefully you stick around. By the way although not very active at the moment, there's also access to other sports here. Jets, Giants, Rangers etc.
