5 Years 86 Million Contract as per Ken Rosenthal.

...I have strong feelings both ways concerning this contract. And like last year, if the offense does not play up to expectations and offer support and score enough runs, having the best BP in Baseball will be irrelevant.

Right with you on that assessment, once again Cashman takes the checkbook improvement level into deep waters.

...yeah, like I said, last year the Yanx' BP was pretty much lights out in the 7-8-9th innings, but because the offense was so often anemic the BP was irrelevant in the final outcome of the game.

...they really need to do something about Headley at 3B and 1B is a question mark because we just don't know if Bird is healed and whether he'll perform as he did in 2015...and the OF is solid defensively, but offensively, that's another matter.

...as far as starting pitching, well, they've got Tanaka and that's pretty much it...but he can opt out after the season is over. (bad move by Cashman)

I hope he doesn't start against my O's too often. He is good. However, the Yanks could have signed two pitchers with that $$

If I had a dollar for each time I cursed Headley & Ellsbury last season I'd be one well of person. I'd like to see both gone but I think Cashman painted himself into the corner who the hell would want them.

The market was set so the money is what it is. I would've liked to have seen four years instead but five is better than six. I hear they're heavily trying to push a Gardner trade which I feel will get done.

Cashman is a schmuck........this move proves he always puts the cart before the horse.

Doh! Who's starting besides Tanaka? Keeping Headley, Ellsbury & Gardner will really
generate enough runs to get to AC? Think again!

He just said he is keeping Headley but might trade Gardner. Schmuck is right, I have a few other choice words for him.

...I'm guessing Houston or Baltimore.

5 years not terrible for a pitcher who will be 29 in february. While I will be surprised if we are very competitive this year I expect us to be the 4 years after as our youth matures and chapman will be our hammer to close things

...just discovered that Cashman included an "opt out" clause after the 3rd year of Chapman's contract...unbelievable.

geezus, I was unaware of the "opt out", Chapman will raise his price after that 3rd yr, just when this team should be jelling together, and need a Closer more 3-4 yrs down the road, than 2 or simply 3. Guess Hal and Ca$h, must be the golden shitting gooses....!

...that's pretty much how I see it too...I really don't see the Yanx as a real threat for at least another 2 years, and with that in mind, why ink a closer for 5 years when he'll be somewhat irrelevant for the first 2 years and you're also giving him an opt out for the last 2 years of the contract...I mean, why sign him at all?...makes absolutely no sense to me.

Cashman at his best, what a Fucking Idiot.

^^^^ exactly, please come pick up your B-I-N-G-O prize, always a bag of crunchy cheetos...

As long as Cashman remains as GM numbers 28 and beyond are likely to be improbable.

Rob, is this another Scam??? I'm sure Ron has a case of them at his house. :rotfl:

...a "case"?......pshhh !

I just emptied this truck using a fork lift;

...back to Chapman...this is the psyche of the guy we just resigned. He's about to receive $80+ Million, and he's about to receive a WS Ring, but for some unknown reason he's now second guessing the way in which Maddon used him in the WS in order to make it possible for him to become a WS Champion.

...on one hand he says he doesn't like the way he was used, but he then goes on to say that his job is to be ready whenever the coach calls on him to pitch...well, which is it, Aroldis?...and why did you feel the need to shoot your mouth off about it in the first place?....just shut up and pitch.

As far as I'm concerned Chapman is a God Dam Flake, Should not have gotten him in the first place, then use him as a trade chip OK. The fact that the Cubs had him on their WC Team and showed little interest in keeping him should have sent a message. But old checkbook went out and signed him so there we are right back to square one. I have a feeling the Yankees got porked in the ass dry and will come to regret this move.

...yeah, I would have much rather had Miller than Chapman.
