does anybody else wonder if the reason that the Grant-->PDX deal hasn't been finalized yet is because Portland is still talking to Atlanta about Collins?
No. Not a chance that Atlanta makes a trade to dump Collins unless they get something better back. We don't have anything better to give them.

Not sure it's for Collins, but still trying to do some things with that Grant deal.

I know it will not happen, but I would love to send Grant to Atlanta & take Collins instead.

Outside of doing an extension then trade - I'm not sure how you can do more with the Grant deal. He eats up the full TPE. I can't see how it would be to anyone's advantage to delay this.

Actually, in digging into the CBA a bit - it appears that Grant's contract cannot be extended until Nov 22 anyhow...

This link states that Grant has to be past his 2-year anniversary from signing his current contract. He was sign/traded from Denver to Detroit on November 22, 2020.

Not sure what the hold up is.

I wonder if the League is adjusting the date due to the Covid delay in the 2020-2021 season....

Why couldn’t we get a star for a couple picks and an expiring contract like that.

Those are the moves that we’ve needed to make to put a team around Lillard for years…

You know very well why.

Because Neil is a pile of shit.

The CJ comparison is kinda funny because Murray is one of the best defenders in the league and a walking triple double. That being said, I think it could be a good trade for both teams. I think Trae/Dejounte could be like a teeny tiny MJ/Pippen... just saying that makes me laugh really hard but honestly Trae does the scoring and dominates the ball a lot, while Murray does everything else and scores some too, mostly facilitating off the ball scoring opportunities for Trae.

Murray is probably THE best defensive guard in the league.

The only knock on him is outside shooting. Unlike CJ, when he’s on the court he can do multiple things to help his team win. He nearly averaged a triple double and led a decently competitive Spurs team that had a cast of scrubs if you really look up and down the roster.

I think Trae will want more than 20 and I also think that the Hawks are wagering that they can get Murray to take less shots per game than he has been in San Antonio as opposed to getting him to take two more per game than he did last season which was four more than the season before that.

They also probably want another really strong guard to make up for Young’s defensive deficiency.

Holiday is good too. Murray is way longer and can even guard wings if need be.
Yeah. I get what Atlanta is trying to do: Murray in a kind of Draymond role (defender, distributor, "gravy on top" scoring, and Trae in the Steph role. Not sure it will work, but at least they are moving on from what obviously wasn't working. Murray sure seems like a McMillan type, btw.

I’m starting to think we’re not getting anything for that Bledsoe contract and are probably done making trades

I think the chances that Bledsoe would have even been a trade asset were really small. Now they probably don't exist. I think he has to be waived by tomorrow sometime
