I think that will get it done. LeBron playing with two guys who were his second best teammates on two of his different title teams next season... it doesn't guarantee that they'll be great but it guarantees they'll be better than they were with Russ if Kyrie doesn't find some weird reason not to play.

No one wants Westbrook. Why would Nets want Simmons and Westbrick on the same team? That’s the dumbest trade I can think of.

The picks might end up worth it. Lakers might suck even with Irving and in the next few years who knows?
Guess it depends on the protections placed on the picks?

No one really wants Kyrie and his bullshit either... that's what Kyrie found out when the Nets told him to go out there and test the waters and he came back to them with his tail between his legs. So taking one guy that you don't want who only has a year left on his contract for another guy you don't want who is also on the last year of his deal... plus getting 2 first rounders in the process actually seems like a good idea.

They're not getting someone of use out of Kyrie... most teams that could use him can just wait until he's a free agent, get him for a lower salary and without having to send back compensation. The Lakers are in a position where they have a very quickly shrinking window to maximize what they get out of LeBron and AD. In order to do that they need to get rid of Westbrook's toxicity, LeBron also has a history of success with Kyrie. The Lakers might be the only team in the league that would give the Nets anything of value for Kyrie and they're definitely the only team in the league that the Nets would have leverage over and could get anything close to two picks and an expiring from for Kyrie.

No one wants Kyrie?? Kyrie can still play. Westbrook can't. Even with Kyrie's craziness, he is worth a lot more than Westbrook. That's why the Lakers wouldn't hesitate to make this trade. I have no idea why Brooklyn would make this deal. Other teams have picks you can get without having to take on Westbrook to throw up bricks with Simmons.

What teams have you heard have interest in Kyrie? What I've read is that he was given permission by the Nets to go out and see what he could get from other teams before he chose whether to opt in or out of the final season of his contract... he opted in. I've also read that the only team with real interest in him is the Lakers.

So, if you've heard or read different please let me know.

Maybe teams aren't interested in giving him a big contract (what he wants), but he has value. He can play. Westbrook can't. Kyrie would be worth more to the Nets this season than Westbrook would. The very fact that he can play is why the Lakers would love him. Kyrie would make the Lakers a Top 5 favorite for the title and they didn't even make the play-in last season. And as for the Blazers, who do you want playing PG for the Lakers this season? Westbrook or Kyrie? I know my answer.

Wow. I looked up Kyrie's stats. I know he missed a ton of games, but he matched a career high in scoring last year. 27.4 pug, 5.8 apg, 4.4 rpg. 47/42/92 shooting percentages. That is MAJOR value and NOT a player you give up for Westbrick (18.5/7.1/7.4 on 44/30/67). Kyrie should be allowed to play all 82 this year despite not being vaccinated yes? If he played for a team other than GS/NY/BK last year, he would've been eligible for all 82. So that's what I'm saying. He HAS VALUE.

Other teams have picks to offer.
So we want to make this a conversation about cap and trade? Other teams either don't have another contract or space to handle Irving or Westbrrok. Other teams may or may not have the need for either? Other teams probably would not be acceptable to the players involved. Other teams don't want either of them and are not in a bind with needing a better situation.
Bottom line- No other teams have Russel Westbrook and Kyrie Irving who are both questionable assets at this point?
That's why those teams are even talking?

Kyrie should be allowed to play all 82 games, WHATTTTTT! Like he even wants to play that many. With birthdays, Family picnics, Flat Earther Events, and voting candidate obligations. Where have you been ?

Kyrie said back to backs are inhumane...

He only played in 29 games. Not hard to have good averages when you barely play. The career high in scoring...he matched it from 2019, when he only played 20 games.

Even if he is allowed to play all 82, which he likely will, I'd be surprised to see him play in most of them. In 11 seasons he didn't manged to make the 60 game mark in 6 of them. He's averaged only 55 games a season in his career.

Obviously I want Westbrook to stay on the Lakers. What I'm saying is that with the Lakers aging the way they are, I don't think the Nets are getting better than an expiring contract that they'll likely buyout and future Lakers picks in '26 and '28.
