Around the NBA 2022 Playoffs: The Thread (3 Viewers)

I have three different friends down in the bay area. All of them avid Warriors fans. They all hate Draymond Green. They absolutely want him off the team.

To me whether you like him or not he’s the glue on that team especially in playoffs. He does all the dirty work that makes them champions. His BBall IQ is off the charts. Seems like every team needs a guy like him, PJ Tucker, Marcus Smart, Lambeer, Rodman, K Rambis (sp?), etc

Lot of people say this but I'm not so sure? It also seems like it's becoming less and less that way? Now he seems to be more distraction than much else. he certainly did very little to help them last night.

Draymond was soooo close to be traded a couple years ago. Kerr has been tired of his shit for a long time. But they know how valuable he is. However…changes could be coming at some point. They have to figure out how long to hold onto this core before moving on to the young guys. Draymond is still very good, but he really is a distraction much of the time.

yup. Was listening to a great interview with Tom Izzo yesterday who stated it took him a while to figure it out, but Green's greatest attribute is his mind. Among other things he noted is on D how fantastic his off ball rotations that cut off interior passes before they're thrown and how he's constantly calling out the opponent's intentions to teammates quarterbacking the D. Thats the sort of stuff that doesn't show up in the box score but it does in the standings.

A bunch of people who watch that team every game simply hate that guy. Yes he can be a huge positive but the negatives are out weighing the positives at this point.
I certainly don't want him here now. Maybe 3-4 years ago but no way now.

He'd be ejected every game if he was a Blazer.

funny part is he’s what I think we need. Tough hard nose player who can impact game without scoring. I’d be happy to have him on our team. Believe him and Dame got really close during Olympics.

His Bball IQ is off the charts

If Green is so smart, why did he let himself get suspended in 2016?

Because he's also a bit of an idiot? We were talking BBIQ which I would differentiate from temperment or overall IQ, but of course he runs hot which can be both good and bad. IMO the positives his personality brings to the rest of the seemingly mild mannered Warriors overall is a big positive.

There are few other players I would rather have had running next to Dame over their careers. Good grief he has had some games/series vs Portland too. It's not because of his athleticism or size...

He has a valid point here. Green plays smart when playing the actual game. He does not act smart while in the game. This is the difference maker for me.
I do understand I'm in the minority here and he already has a ring so it's not like he has not been part of a great team. I just keep think Rasheed Wallace type stupidity and it makes me cringe.

3 rings actually and in his 6th finals... plus multiple AS appearances & All NBA D teams, Defensive player of the year = a Hall of Fame career

not my favorite guy of all time, but dude is an awesome BB player

Green is a player you dream about having on your team. Smartest defender I’ve ever seen and can switch onto 1-5 on the court and a great screener and playmaker.

His antics on the court bug the FUCK out of me though. It’s a large reason why I want Boston to win.

Also because of the Portland ties in Boston and Steph Curry’s mannerisms bug me.

We need a ton, but if anyone wants to see the impact of Jalen Duren, watch Robert Williams, who is built similarly to Duren and has the same basic game

If Ime gets in that lockerroom and tells his team that they have the lead but they shouldn't because they've been so careless on offense and can get them to start playing with discipline on that end, they'll end this game up 3-1. I think they're the better team but just need to play within themselves on offense.

Draymond exposed… he can’t battle the big boys lol

So in that timeout Kerr just said “give the ball to Curry and clear out”
