Wasn’t going to bug Dame for a pic….. Coach Billups is so cool… first thing he did was ask if my daughter committed to a college yet. His daughter was in the same league and system as mine. So he’s been through all the recruiting battles with her. Just a great down to earth dude.

That's awesome!

I second that!
Coach has always gone above and beyond to be totally cool with me.
Very inspirational, nice, man.
Granted, I don't know him like you do.

OMG OMG OMG

The Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder came to terms on a trade Thursday evening, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Eight players in total will be involved, four from each team, as well as a 2025 second-round pick headed to Houston.

Houston gets:

  • Derrick Favors
  • Ty Jerome
  • Moe Harkless
  • Theo Maledon
  • 2025 second-round pick
Oklahoma City gets:

  • David Nwaba
  • Sterling Brown
  • Trey Burke
  • Marquese Chriss
Per Wojnarowski, the Thunder will accumulate two trade exceptions while moving well under the luxury tax, with the second-round pick compensating Houston for taking on extra salary.

Blockbuster? Changes the balance of power? Wut!?! Someone needs the season to hurry up and start.

Wouldn't mind having favors. Wouldn't mind having Harkless back either.

Favors would be handy, but I can't see how the Blazers could absorb his 10.5M and have a good chance to stay under the tax.....which is obviously a primary goal, at least until it becomes clear how good, or bad, the team is

I liked Harkless as a Blazer but his inconsistency was frustrating, and that has only become worse

I liked Harkless too. I will never forget a pre fall camp sit down interview he had and he talked about it being a challenge for him to be super aggressive for every game when he knew he was the 5th scoring option most of the time. Said you can get bored standing in the corner all the time.lol

Celtics signed Blake Griffin. We're lacking depth at center. Lamarcus and Demarcus are still free agents. Thoughts?

I thought laMarcus signed with the Celtics?
There were rumors today that Lamarcus wants to just retire now...he's 37 and has a bum ticker.
He was never a guy who needed the spotlight that much...I think he enjoys privacy more than public life.

That may be true or he could opt to join a contender to enhance his HOF chances

It might be that, plus, someone who needs attention or someone who has a good sense of humor.

Blazers are 761K over the tax threshold so, as discussed her, getting under by the trade deadline will be relatively simple. I'd doubt that a backup Big will be added unless Keon is traded for one

Portland is carrying a trifecta of dead salary at this point:

(Louzada runs thru 2028-2029, IIRC)

it's not a lot, but 4.4M in dead salary this season and next is a significant limitation. Nicholson is the ghost of the stupid Allen Crabbe contract

My thoughts are that we'll keep Sarr on a 2-way and be satisfied with Nurk/Eubanks/Watford/Sarr. We won't jeopardize our taxpayer status with a veteran C unless we're battling for home-court and Nurk goes down.

this is just nails on a chalkboard for me and an asinine tenet if it's in place from the ownership. it speaks to a lack of commitment to win and embraces a culture of penny-pinching.

we wouldn't even be a repeater next year if we were in the tax this year. the damages are not THAT punitive. we currently have the 15th highest cap number in the league.

If there is a player out there who could potentially even add 2-5 wins to our total, that should be an obvious addition given where dame is in his career.

I think he thought that was the plan with the nets but at this point ....no guarantees he'll get that kind of gig at his age and condition

I read recently that the Clippers have 195 million in salary.....and they haven't won or sniffed a ring....Balmer is bleeding money with that franchise.

I don't disagree with this assessment, but that actually seems like a pretty high bar to clear.

Bro how does two of the worst teams trading a bunch of average players change the balance of power in the league?

Yeah, and I was surprised how decent he was playin until Nash suddenly stopped using him.

Yeah, with that money we could sign a vet big and still be under. Fucking Olshey.
