Dan Gilbert looking to sell the Cavs?

He knows Lebron is gone, and he wants to cash out before he gets ditched again. Zero doubt in my mind.

No prospective buyer with any brains will give him full value for that team. When Lebron leaves, their value will drop by half, if not more.

It'll be the cavs of 20 years ago. Forgetting they exist.

Starting lineup changes in CLE?

Lue_Tyronn_cle_150102.jpg

Tyronn Lue is prepared to change up the Cavaliers' starting lineup as they continue to struggle in January.

"I'm gonna make a change," Lue said.

The Cavaliers' current starting lineup consists of LeBron James, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Jae Crowder and Isaiah Thomas.

"When you're trying to play faster than you're capable of playing," Lue said. "You're used to playing fast and turn the corner and your legs are not quite there, he fell four or five times trying to do that. His speed is gonna take a little while so he can't get down on himself, can't get frustrated."

He has a future in politics. He already has the flip flop down pat:

At Sunday's practice, Lue declared that he was not changing his lineups because "it's not the best thing right now."

Apparently, three days and one game later, it is now the best thing.

Tin foil hat theory: Gilbert promised to sell the team to LeBron if he forgot about The Letter and came home, and they'll split the difference on the value LeBron added to the franchise. Win-win.

You heard it hear first, LeBron will be player-GM-owner.

Donovan Mitchell is so fun.

His rate of improvement in the short time he's been in the NBA is extremely rare. Craft around the rim especially. Not explosive off one foot so needed to better use his strength and length around the rim and he's already really good at it. Handle and vision were always underrated to me, but that's even improved quite a bit. Looks like a lead guard out there.

And for his sake, I'm glad he ended up in Utah and not here. Much better fit for maximizing his full potential.

Why not? He's already player-coach-GM.

I guess the THREE point guards they got weren't enough. It's like he feels entitled to EVERY player that becomes available. CLE is already ridiculously over the tax threshold, and continues to use the stretch provision as they cut one player to add another. It's like he doesn't realize the salary cap applies to his team, too.

I'm really disappointed with IT if that's true.

Yeah he's incredible. One of my favourite players in the NBA currently, very exciting, fun to watch and seems a proper cool, down to Earth character.

Awesome video, thanks for posting!

So, the guy who has played 8 games and is the worst defender in the league at his position was the one calling out the guy who has been there for three and a half years and was a big part of their championship.

Congrats to LeBron. He is no longer the biggest drama queen in that locker room.

With that collection of characters, I can assure you that LeBron wasn't the biggest drama queen in the locker room even before IT showed up.

Gotta watch this on my lunch. But Shannon said "put them mitts on im'"

His style is a little over the top, but he makes several good points.

What, exactly, has Isaiah Thomas accomplished in CLE that makes him think he has any right, or any reason, to call out someone else over missing a game or poor defense?

As an outside observer, the monumental lack of self-awareness is quite stunning.

Dear Isaiah Thomas,

Your team giving up 148 points had much more to do with you being on the floor than Kevin Love being off it.

Sincerely,
People with Clues

Kevin Love handled this much better than I would have. If it would have been me, the next time I saw Isaiah Thomas, I would have walked up to him, got down on my knees, and coughed right in his face.

Awwwwwww

Gotta love Westbrook calling his own number with the game on the line. No wonder OKC sucks in close games.

No sure if this has been reported but Kyrie needs knee surgery:

According to sources, Kyrie Irving needs minor knee surgery as a follow to the procedure he underwent during the 2015 Finals to repair his broken knee cap. It’s not pressing — Irving is averaging 24.5 points and shooting a career-high .477 from the field — but the procedure would ease some of the swelling and day-to-day pain he feels. Such a procedure is typically done in the offseason; but he threatened to not come to training camp (first reported by ESPN) and then have the procedure during the season, leaving the Cavs without a point guard. The Cavs chose to move Irving rather than call his bluff, which upset LeBron James, sources said.

So, instead they traded him for an injured, undersized PG who missed the first 36 games of the season. Sure showed him, didn't they!

Did any of you hear about this??? I knew about the "scuffle" but not the threatening to come to the locker room.

Salah Mejri threatened to come to Blazers locker room after Jusuf Nurkic tussle

The Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks had a game of many emotions on Saturday night at Moda Center. Of course, the game wasn’t that close — Portland led by 17 at the half and finished the game by beating Dallas, 117-108.

But as we’ve seen in the NBA recently, the propensity for NBA players to get into physical spats is high. So it was no surprise that we saw yet another scrum between NBA players on the east side of the Willamette on Saturday as Dallas’ Salah Mejri got tangled up with Jusuf Nurkic and Evan Turner.

The play began with Nurkic getting a clean block on Mejri. Because of the position of the two players, Nurkic’s arm was angled as such that after the block it came clean through to rest on Mejri’s shoulder. Mejri turned, and the whole thing became a tangle of arms and elbows.

Neither Mejri or Nurkic took kindly to that, so the two squared off. Nurkic gave Mejri an ineffectual little push, while Portland’s Evan Turner jumped in to hold Mejri back. The Mavericks center promptly flopped all the way to the ground, inexplicably grabbing his face. It was Premier League-level flopping from Mejri, just top notch stuff.

After the game, Turner told media that Mejri threatened to come get the Blazers.

“He’s like ‘I’ll come to the locker room!'” said Turner. “Out of a 225 lb. dude [Turner] a 275 lb. dude [Nurkic] and a 7-footer [Mejri] who hit the ground?”

Portland’s CJ McCollum didn’t seem too impressed with the threat.

“If they really want to fight, they know where to find people,” said McCollum.

Much like any arena, the visiting locker room is just down the hall from the home squad at Moda Center, so it would have been easy for Mejri to get to. Nothing happened, so it turned out as an empty threat.

Meanwhile, Turner was assessed a technical foul for the tussle — presumably for “pushing” Mejri. There was notable tension the rest of the game between Mejri, Nurkic, and the crowd at Moda Center, but nothing else of consequence happened.

I love how Turner frequently uses acceptable cusswords on camera!

Turner: Come to the locker room, and getcho ass whooped!
