I wonder if they can get Davis without trading any of their big 4. Package a bunch of picks and expiring contracts. After all, it only took Buddy Hield to land Cousins.

Curry/Klay/Durant/Green/Davis is a pretty good team.
Really? You wonder the Warriors offer of multiple 30th overall picks can compete against other offers? C'mon now.

I would assume the main reason for the Warriors making a trade like this is to obtain the best player in the deal. If they think they're going to do that and save money, then I think they'll be sorely disappointed.

I don't think they'd move any of their core four if money were no object. Davis is the best player, but Green and Thompson combined is more total on-court value. The allure would be to reduce four mega-max contracts to three while not losing as much as simply letting Klay Thompson walk. I think they would get worse trading for Davis--the salary reduction would be the reason to do it.

I am moving this thread to the around the NBA. Seeing as we're talking about off-season and rumors, it much more belongs there.

If it were an actual trade happening, then sure. But this can be discussed there.

How the hell is Klay Thompson an All-Star with a PER of 16.8?

PER is heavily influenced by shot attempts (even inefficient ones) so volume shooters tend to have an edge in PER. That's why PER has largely fallen out of favor among advanced stats. Thompson's shot attempts are suppressed by playing alongside two of the greatest offensive forces in NBA history (and, more generally, by the Warriors' share-the-ball-and-shots ethos).

Plus, of course, defense (outside steals and blocks, which is a tiny slice) isn't really accounted for in PER.

His BPM and VORP suck too.

I have a slightly different take than Minstrel... Klay is probably the streakiest shooter in NBA history. On most teams, those icy cold spells would garner a lot of negative attention. But on a loaded team like GS, they keep winning when he's off, so it tends to get overlooked. The stats still capture some of it, though.

Edit: See this has already been posted... That’s crazy man, 2-3x the speed limit. Don’t do that ish young bloods, or this could be you.

Jesus. I mean, It wouldn't be a Curry/Green/KD/James/Klay starting line up... could it? Someone of those 5 would have to go.
Klay would go. They'd bring in Anthony Davis too. This shit is going down.
