I'm keeping an eye on this... remember this is not the OT section. Carry on, just be mindful please.
Im good with deleting my posts, especially if they’re offensive. I honestly shouldve started a thread in OT about this and I apologize to you and the other mods.
Just let me know and I will self moderate
myself.

Kurucs had been on my radar for 2+ years prior to this draft and he has been Brooklyn's best player since entering their starting lineup.

Its 100% true. I just dont think that Cuban's comments were racist, and I dont think I cant have a just opinion on the context of a statement just because Im white.
I'm not going to judge his intent, I just think it falls into that category. Seems similar to me the people that love the"passion" and"spirit" of college basketball, and think it's all team first, but find the nba to be too"one on one". You can try to make that argument on face value, but there's a root to where that's coming from.

"Nets found a player in Rodions Kurucs. He leads BK in Net Rating by a wide margin

Nets have outscored their opponents by 53 points in the 322 minutes Rodions Kurucs has played this season.

Nets have been outscored by 36 points in 709 minutes Allen Crabbe has played this season."

The topic you brought up was fine. As long as it sticks to the cuban/aau topic and the questioning of racism etc, I'm fine with that. But when it goes into full blown generalized racism/not-racism talks, then I'll have to do something about it. It's teetered a bit, but not to that point. You guys have managed to bring it back to the topic at hand on your own. I'm a proud papa. lol.

And if Cuban had an actual issue, he could blame the coaches. The sponsors. The money pouring in to AAU. The manipulation of children. The use and abuse. Can bash the NCAA for being a shit show. Could put all the blame where it belongs, on the higher ups, and the(generally white) people in actual power. Instead he comments on the taunting and mix tapes. Get the fuck out of here.

Stop. Our country is full of racist assholes and the people who give them cover. I literally encounter them everyday. The very minute we accept that and accept that's what this country was built upon (genocide and racism), the sooner white people can right their ancestors wrongs.

You don't have to blatantly call someone the N to be a racist...

Fix this shit.
Wow..So as a white person I have an obligation to "right my ancestors wrongs"? Get the fuck outta here

I'd say we absolutely do. It's not reparations. It's not 40 acres and a mule. It's righting a wrong. It's equality. It's recognizing privilege. It's breaking down the system. It's breaking down barriers. It's destroying the institution of racism.

I like to think I'm doing that just by the way I treat people. But I'm not doing it out of some obligation I owe to anyone..I just think it's the right thing to do

I didnt know taunting was a racially exclusive act. I didnt know making mixtapes was either. I think that's just speaking to the attitude of any kid.

No one should be blamed for being born the way they are. I'm white and I treat everyone equally. That's all I can control. I don't owe anything to anybody

Not making excuses at all but the founding of almost large civilizations throughout history came about by similar things. Really in terms of conquering land, what happened in America was pretty normal.
Also Racism is a world wide issue. Mongolians and Chinese, Isreal and Islam, Europeans are notorious for not liking their neighbors. White people are hates black people are hated, brown, red, whatever.
I hated US history (and my initial college major was in History), but to me the “sins” of this country really came about after they had the land. It wasnt the foundation persay because yes while conquering the way they did was bad, it was par for the course historically speaking.

The elite since then have been mostly about making money, we are by far the greediest nation in the history of this planet and if you know history at all, that statement speaks volumes.

They brought Africans by shipment like cattle, treated them like cattle for profits. The entire reason black people were herec to begin with was to make white people money. Unfortunately and this is where I get so annoyed is I believe that while blacks are no longer technically slaves, and that yes America has gotten “better”, politicians still exploit minorities for their own gain for their pocketbooks. So while on the surface I dont think anyone can deny a black persons existence is a LOT better than it was even 20 years ago there really has not been much change in the status of most Black people. I think most people in America understand that Blacks and whites are both equally human, but I also believe that the tactics our politicians use to engross fear in us and divide us is absolutely awful...

I don't really care about the racism that happens in Indochina (I do of course but that isn't effecting me, nor can I do much to make change in their country)...
I care about the racism effecting me. Bringing up what happens in other countries doesn't interest me as much.
I'm worried about AMERICAN racism.

That said, to this day the average white american citizen still benefits from Slavery and Jim Crow. And since these institutions are still ingrained and supported, most don't really even know how they continue to benefit.

You can have an opinion, you just truly can't have an informed one.

Dog whistle calls like Cuban's comment happen everyday on purpose. Cuban's comments are a symptom of a much bigger problem.
A problem that continues to be propagated by folks who can't seem to latch on to how racist our country is, and how people say racially biased things without even thinking or knowing.

For the sake of argument, let's say Cuban's taunting and mix tape comments were aimed at black culture. Is that a bad thing? It's no more racist to make an observation than it is to take offense to the intent of it. Cuban is in a position that very few of us are, having a financial stake in finding the right basketball talent. If he believes the major pipeline for that talent isn't developing to its full potential, why not comment on it?

Sigh. This is the same ailly ass argument you've tried to say to me before. I can judge intent as accurately as you. Maybe you're inclined to assume someone has racist intent due to what you've dealt with. We're judging the context of a statement about taunting and mixtapes.

Because all racism should be stamped out. We're not even different races...

Racism is man's gravest threat to man--the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason.

And this is the same silly ass argument you came with before.

Again, why don't they have you or I give basketball analysis at an NBA level?

Because those jobs are given to people who actually played/coached NBA basketball.
