Sochan has shown me he doesn't have the drive/desire to be good. Doesn't look like a guy who really cares about winning.
That may be but I think he has a lot more talent than Rupert, Murray, Sidy etc.

I'd gladly take a flyer on him for the rest of the year and see how it pans out. If we can get him motivated the results may show.

We played Sidy Cissoko 19 minutes in our last game. Thats why.

Sochan has shown more in his short career so far.

Sidy has good defense but I question if he can provide enough on offense - shooting 32% on threes this year.

Sochan has shot 28% on threes in his career and 25% this year - thats not an improvement.

If it was training camp I'd be interested in taking a flyer on Sochan. With only 8 weeks left in the season I don't see the point to bring in him now though. Theres no time to get him learning our systems on both sides of the ball or contributing for us on the court.

We already need to cut someone just to get more games available for Sidy. Bring in Sochan too and we have to cut two players. Any of Rupert, Murray, Cooke, Thybulle, etc would all provide more help to the Blazers on the court in the next 8 weeks. Not that I want to see any of them playing for us.

Sochan was one of those players that most of us loved out of college, depending on whether he was able to improve his 3pt shot.
Apparently, he has not, or he wouldn't have been cut.

He was so young coming out of college, hard to believe he is a year older than Sidy. I am not sure he is better than Sidy. But they are both still pretty young. Who has the better chance of being the better outside shooter? They are both good defenders

If it was training camp I'd probably lean towards Sochan over Sidy. But at this point there is no way he gets up to speed and takes over Sidy role as a 3rd string player let alone the starters/key subs we have ahead of him. There is no point to brining Sochan in here.

Sidy has the benefit of a better contract and will be a restricted free agent in the summer. So we have the potential to get him on a very cheap vet minimum deal next season as well. Sochan wouldn't have that benefit.

I just don't see what some of you see in Sidy. I think he is a total replacement level player.

Sochan got a lot of run his first three years and I thought he played fine. This last year it seems he just completely fell out of favor with the Spurs.

Sochan has already shown three years of better play than Sidy has.

I don't care to resign Sidy because I never think he will be better than a 12th man on a team. I think Sochan can be a guy that is a part of a 8 man rotation on a good team.

He got a lot of run for a Spurs team that was near the bottom of the standings three years in a row and didn't seem to improve since his rookie year. I don't think he's an upgrade to Sidy.

It still comes down to the 3-ball for both of them if they want to crack the top 8 on any good team. Right now, I am not sure Sochan is any better than Kris Murray. But I still like his potential.

That same team barely played Sidy and cut him.

Idk friends. I just don't see why so many people like him.

Because he's actually improved from the beginning of the season. He has high IQ, rugged defense, good handles, and good passing ability for his role. Big fan of Sidy over here.

Sidy plays hard, and I’ll be honest here, I’d much rather have a lower talent player who plays hard than a higher talent player who doesn’t (within non-absurd talent ranges)

Sidy is the kind of guy you want as 3rd string - he can play minutes if you need it and isn't a total disaster. But if you have better options (ideally you do most the season) he can just sit on the bench. I kind of view him and Love the same.

Sochan has more potential but is worse offensively - which is saying something because Sidy isn't good. I'd prefer Sochan as a prospect with upside - but not when one has 11 months of experience with the Blazers and there is only 8 weeks with very limited practice time left in the season.

I do prefer Sidy over Murray.

Murray I've hated since we drafted him. Sucks he is on our cap for $5 million next year or I'd probably prefer he is cut over any of the other guys. Total waste of a draft pick that had little upside at the time.

I would not say a total waste at #23. He is a solid defender. Sensabaugh is about the only one we missed out on

So who should they have taken instead? As said above, maybe 1 player was passed over that should've been a pick, and even that wasn't a given at the time.

That's not to say that Kris hasn't been meh, but it's not like they passed over a sure fire pick (no one knew Toumani would be what he was). Hell, even GG, who would've a massive reach at 23, who has been more impressive, hasn't exactly played a ton of games.

I wanted us to give Chicago that pick in order to satisfy our debt to them.

Chicago has to want the pick.
Of course. Who knows if they would have taken it or not. But they would have to be gambling on getting a pick just a little bit better a future year. We sucked that year so bad we got Scoot at #3. And Dame wanted out. So they had to know we likely were going to start losing.

We could have tried to sweeten the pot with a 2nd rounder to throw at them too.
