We were down here in Atlanta playing the Hawks when the whole Rolo vs Mascots thing took off. He came in on his off day to shoot a video with the Hawk mascot for their in house big screen show. Had a bunch of local mascots there booing him as he got off the bus. Very cool of him to do.

I any NBA player should get a role in Space Jam 2 it's Rolo! Mr. Disney!

Can we one up in and just get rid of the NFL? :ghoti:

MLB kind of needs the draft - they have 30+ rounds and all the minor leagues - short season a, long season A, double A, etc. So they have a lot of spots to fill.

Pelicans don't have Cousins so the Rockets should be able to make easy work of them without too much effort. Obviously that can't beat a day of rest, but I'm not too worried about it.

It sucks that they are on the road though. I remember hearing the Czar talk about how Portland and Denver were two of the toughest places to get wins on the road. Said they felt like whenever they were in Portland you were on the 2nd night of a b2b after a long road trip and you were pretty fatigued at that point, plus it wasn't like your opponent was easy either. Credited the altitude in Denver.
Actually, since DeMarcus Cancer didn't play, the Pelicans made quick work of the Rockets. Even the Kings destroyed the Celtics when Cousins sat out. AD/Cousins is never going to work. It's stupid. They play the same position. If Pels traded for Crabbe instead of Cousins, they'd be a better team.

Re: Draft picks: here's an idea.

First it would require scrapping the D-League-as-NBA-minor-league scheme that has just really kicked in (which is why it's not going to happen, but bear with me). This wouldn't prevent NBA teams sending players "on loan" to D-League teams - because that happens in the Euro leagues.

Second, enlarge the NBA by 4 teams to begin with. They can be new franchises in places like Seattle if need be. Include them in the draft just as they did in the first years of expansion franchises like Vancouver, Toronto et al.

Third, as with Euro football: have the bottom team of the NBA automatically demoted and the top team of the D-League automatically promoted. This means that the promoted team gets treated as an "expansion" team in that year's draft, while the Demoted team doesn't get a pick (except in the D-league draft)

(Maybe allow the D-League to draft players too young for the NBA - those like Mudiay who now go abroad instead of going to college. The NCAA would fight this, of course, but fuck 'em.)

Fourth (the best bit) the next three lowest enter a tournament with the next 3 highest D-League teams in a playoffs. That tournament could precede the NBA playoffs, which would also give NBA teams time to rest up after the season and prepare for the playoffs.

Come on Silver, have some balls!

(Another side effect is that sometimes demoted teams unload expensive players, so there'd be more player movement.)
My idea would be that there's still 30 franchises that own 2 teams each (1 D-league & 1 NBA - at least initially). All 30 players count against the same cap.

I'd be awesome for the Blazers to have (& own) both the Portland Trailblazers & the Spokane what-ever-you-want-to-name-them teams playing in the NBA. It'd make it especially sweet to see the Lakers demoted & play in the D-League with the D-fenders.

Talk about having motivation to keep winning!

Players between the two teams can be swapped (although they'd have to sit out at least one game before being eligible to play for the other team).

Draft would be based on the worst record to best record of the best team each franchise owned.

It will never happen, but it would make things so much more entertaining. Franchises would have to be extremely smart handing out contracts. Games would have so much more at stake every night.

There's so much wrong with all of those words in that order.

Well...im back on Nuggets-watch. Ive got local Denver channels here in WY so got it televised. The commentators IMMEDIATELY mentioned the Blazers win tonight. They seem slightly troubled at our nipping at their heels. Go not-Nuggets!

Nuggets choked the shit out of that game against Houston. Jesus. They missed 9 ft's in the 2nd half.

Houston did everything to lose that game, and still won. Houston is a first round and out team. Not impressed.

That game was a shit show. Ive never seen so many fucked up dunks, failed alley-oops and missed free throws. Glad its over and glad Denver lost.

To be frankly honest, I wanted Denver to win because I vowed since the Houston series that I would never cheer for a Rockets win in any scenario ever.

Man no kidding. They fouled the 3 pt shooter 3 times. One was a 4 point play.

They were on 2nd of a back to back after a tough game last night. 1 game sample size doesnt mean anything

Rockets were 5-24 from 3 and still won. The Denver commentators are whining about the calls right now. Yeah the officiating was shit, but it wasn't really lopsided favoring one team, Denver should have lost by at least 10.

Rockets up 2 games on the Cavs. If that continues, our Cleveland pick will be 26 instead of 27 or higher.

I said it months ago too. If Harden is all they got, he and the team wont do well in the playoffs.

Harden is surrounded by nothing but above average shooters, and they added Lou Williams, another guy that can create on his own while harden sits. Houston will be dangerous in the playoffs.

First and out. It's easy to see.

30 Warriors
29 Spurs
28 Rockets
27 Portland (via CLE)

Am I missing something?

A chance ex-Blazer GM, (and Jlprks main man), Bob Whitsitt may be getting a look at for the Clippers position should Doc be relegated or move on.

"Another possibility for the Clippers, Stein notes, is to request that Rivers give up his front office duties and concentrate on coaching. If that happens, the team may reach out to Bob Whitsitt, a former executive with the SuperSonics and Trail Blazers who has close ties to Clippers owner Steve Ballmer."
