I was expecting a pretty uneventful night in the NBA, and low and behold both DEN and MIN end up losing.

The DEN loss wasn't unexpected, but they are now 6 games behind us in the loss column and are basically no longer even interesting.

MIN really shot themselves in the foot. They are now 4 games behind us in the loss column and are starting to look more and more like a 7th or 8th seed, which means a first round match up with GSW or HOU.

Denver will be playing their asses off when we go there to play I'm sure. That will be a tough one. Hope we have 3rd locked up but then.

Will they? I know they play much better at home, but they may very well be eliminated from playoff contention by then. They are now two full games behind UTA and MIN for the 8th seed. If they are mathematically eliminated by then (it's game 81 f 82 for both us and them), what will they have to play for? They may even chose to rest Jokic and Millsap to avoid risking a needless injury. It may een be in their best interest to lose and "pass" LAC to move up one spot in the draft.

Of course, if we have the 3rd seed locked up by then, it won't really matter how DEN plays.

I hope we lock it up by then because I'm dreaming of Baldwin/Papagiannis pick n rolls with Meyers, Wilcox, and Swanigan spacing the floor.

Didn't Lavarr Ball say he'd eat his dick on national TV if his son didn't lead them to the POs?
Got me. I've actually never watched or read anything about him since about a month after he popped up on the scene. Guy is ridiculous.

I was actually referencing another crazy guy - John McAfee said he'd do just that if bitcoin doesn't hit $500k by 2020 or something like that.

It's Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, rising salaries, and the new NBA.

In the past, when the Lakers have been headed downhill, they've just make all of their contracts
expire at the same time, sign the 2 best players in the league, and they were set.

With Kevin Durant signing the big shoe contract when playing for a small NBA market, Damian
Lillard following suit, player have found they don't have to be in LA to get the big shoe contracts.
With the rise in player salaries, they can buy several houses at pretty much any locations. So,
if they like LA the town, they just buy a house and live there in the offseason. The incentives have
changed to signing with the best team for the most $$$, and that hasn't been LA.

They sucked at GMing for years, but surprisingly, Magic is doing a good job. Regardless, they're
trying a hybrid strategy of building through the draft, and supplementing it with FAs.
They may get PG, but he only wants to sign there because he is from LA.

538 has Rockets a 60% chance to WIN the NBA finals.

It will be interesting to see how this D'Antoni team does in the post season. They are clearly the best regular season team, but neither Chris Paul, nor Mike D'Antoni have a history of post season success.

Will this be the year CP3 finally gets past the 2nd round? I guess we'll see.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how consistent Nurk has been lately?
Nurk's been great. Been more patient with his moves inside, gone up stronger.. He has Per 36 numbers of 21/14/3 on 55% shooting and great defense since the All-star break. That's All-NBA caliber.

Wait, I forgot. I'm supposed to be the negative villain of this board. Whoops...

He sure is silencing the Nurk haters. So, that's a win:win in my book.

And earning a bigger paycheck, which is a loss for us, but a win for him.

So is it a win:win:loss:win?

I'm fine with that, and I imagine Paul Allen is, too. How much he gets paid is a direct reflection of how well he plays.

Relative to preseason expectations, is there a more disappointing team this season than MIL? They are about to lose to the Clippers and drop to the 8th seed in the East.
