Fuck Texas? Austin wants to be Portland when it grows up.
Truer words were never spoken D. I was there a year ago this month and couldn’t believe I’d driven 2000 miles just to end back up in Portland (without the surrounding beauty). I found Austin to be very overrated......

because Andre Miller retired

I had the same thought. Aside from Miller, I can't think of any/many pure PG's we've had since Strickland and Pippen (huh?). Oh, Sergio! Dude could sure throw a lob to Rudy.

Lots of combo guards (Lillard, CJ, Roy, Crawford, Blake, etc.) and pass-second types (Stoudamire, Felton), but very few that could consistently hit a guy in the shooting pocket, let alone time a pass in traffic.

So we would've played better against Houston instead of New Orleans because... matchups?

OKC or Houston would've likely done something new that Stotts wouldn't be able to adjust to and the narrative then would still be "Stotts is great, we just ran into a bad matchup..."

Indeed. We lost all our games against Houston this season, we actually beat NO the last time we played them. If we went up against anyone other than New Orleans and were eliminated people would be saying “what if we faced NO instead”. Most people were over the moon with the fact that we were going to face them in the first round.

Making the excuse of it was a "bad matchup" to losing to OKC in the playoffs would have been hilarious since they swept OKC in the regular season. That totally would have been used though.

SABAS!

Yeah that’s actually pretty fair. Even the team construction is pretty similar - reliant on guards productivity, average elsewhere. Blazers have more depth but it all evens out with the fact that they have better small forwards (Porter and Oubre). Both teams have jammed their salaries too meaning they can’t really do anything with the roster they have.

Joe Ingles had a career high 27 points (10/13), a career high 7/9 three point shots, and now has the record for the most points scored in an NBA playoff game by an Australian.

More importantly, what is the most points scored by an American in your league down there? The Boomerang Legue or whatever it is? Like who has captured the most dingos?

Don't disagree, but as someone eyeing retirement in 11 years and thinking about snowbirding, Austin seems very appealing in February.

Strictly my personal experience but I thought San Antonio had far more going for it than Austin. It just seemed less dense and easier to get around in. And of course it has the Riverwalk (a genius idea if there ever was one). Plus it’s a fairly short drive to Austin when you need an Austin fix........I could definitely see SA as a “snowbird” destination.

I fear the Raptors will get swept if they lose tonight, but that's just me.

Can you point me to where I said that as I don't recall ever making that statement
You implied that they wouldve struggled with New Orleans too and that they got an easy matchup with OKC that we wouldve won too.

Raptors really laying an egg at home. They're more like the Blazers than I thought!
