Agreed but that team has a lot of talent even without Hayward and Kyrie, maybe ainge for exec of the year too.

Not sure about that. It’s virtually two very young high picks that he has moulded (one of them is playing with injury), Horford and a bunch of scrubs. It’s not that great on paper yet they have performed well.

Then he can come on the air and say, "you don't want to make an enemy out of me", again.
WWF Style. Two guys jump him and grab his arms, third guy stuffs his mouth. After, he goes into his enemy rant and vows revenge

This is why you draft the best player available. Can’t believe the Sixers Pick Fultz Over Tatum. Danny Ainge for GM if the year.

Would love to see Stotts coach the Celtics without Kyrie and Gordon and see if he can win just one playoff game.
just look at his championship in Dallas as offensive coordinator..

I’m sure you can find a few examples but most guys don’t make big jumps at 27-28 years old. Being a gym rat just helps them to maintain that and maybe get marginally better, And smarter basketball players. Usually players getting significantly better year over year are 4-5 years younger than Dame and CJ.
4 year college guys are not coming into the NBA at Zach Collins age....big difference...

Let's hope Philly can stay healthy and live up to their potential, otherwise this one's going to hurt even more in the future.

Boston makes me jealous because they have so much good young talent and they are so set for future titles and brad Stevens is the best coach in the league.

I just hate the "they are at a certain age so they can't get better" argument. Anybody can add elements to their game at any age. He can play more off the ball. He can become a better passer. He can learn how to avoid getting trapped. He can improve his defense (which he has). If AD is so good why hasn't his teams been better than a team that obviously sucks like the Blazers before this season? Why didn't they finish higher than us during the season?

The playoffs are such a weird situation because it's such a small sample size. In 3 out of the 5 playoff appearances under Dame they've lost to a team that went to the Finals (Spurs and GS twice). The Memphis year the entire team checked out after the Wes injury so I don't really know what to make of that one other than to see the talent CJ and to a lesser extent Meyers had. This is the first year they've had home court advantage in those 5 playoff appearances and they absolutely laid an egg. The fact that they were the higher seed and had home court made it that more disappointing that they failed so miserably but it also doesn't doom them to never be able to figure it out. Like I said, the Pelicans made two moves that would be considered very minor for Blazer fans and has a big time improvement. Yes it is difficult but if you find the right fit that guy could change this team. Bag on Dame all you want but it is almost impossible to draft or trade for a player as good as him. We're talking about a player who is already the 3rd best (at worst) player in franchise history. I don't think it's in his DNA to just accept mediocrity and I certainly won't doubt his ability to make us better in the future.

It's not bagging on Dame. How many guys can you back to and say in their late 20's got significantly better? I mean sure they can continue to add things and get smarter, but the chances either of them come back next year and they look like Michael Jordan (yes that's hyperbole) isn't very high. Even before Lebron or Michael, won chips people knew they would eventually figure it out because it was obvious the ability was there. I don't really know if Dame will lead the Blazers to a championship (I hope he is, but it's not a given).
The Pelicans had more injury problems than the Blazers this year, had to integrate a new starter mid-season and finished a whole one game behind the Blazers... I don't know even know if AD will ever win a championship with the Pelicans. The goal isn't the Pelicans though, the goal is a championship, I think the Blazers are a couple major pieces away from really being ready to content. Could they maybe get those with small moves and internal improvement, sure they could, I mean I won't rule it out as a possibility.

Dame is really good, and I'm not bagging on him by saying another guy is better than him, and younger than him. If the Pelicans offered up AD for Dame straight up the Blazers would do it, and I don't think many fans would be upset about it, though we would all miss what Dame meant to the Blazers since he's been here.

Horford is good. Tatum is young but a high pick and obviously he hit on him. Brown is good and they also hit on him. Terry Rozier well apparently he can play too. The Morris brother is alright. I think Boston has some talent there, it's not like Stephens is playing with Sacramento's Roster.

They have the best coach and the best GM in the league. I'm jealous of them.

So... those old greybeards on the Celtics (like Tatum, Brown and Rozier) have the upper hand?
Horford, Irving, and Hayward have all been around. Yeah two of them are not playing but their veteran leadership and advice combined with Stevens elite coaching is a huge difference to what the Sixers have. Also, the Celtics never went through a culture of tanking and losing for years.

I don't know why you keep going to the everyone would "trade AD for Dame" argument. You could trade Dame for draft picks and every player in the league other than LeBron, Durant, and Curry and you would still be able to make the argument that whoever our best player isn't as good as AD. That's why I believe we have to keep making the team around Dame better. The team this year was never 11 games below .500 like they were the year before. They did have a better season as a whole compared to last year.

Don't see how Casey comes back from this. Raps just completely unraveled

I have already heard the calling for Casey’s job, and big changes for Toronto. DeRozan is arguably too 3 Raptor of all time. What would you do?
Did they really have a better season than last year even though it ended in the same round?
They were the 1 seed in the east.

I ask because I see the Blazers in the same vein.
This season from me as a fan, wasn’t more successful than last years. Sure we had more regular season wins but it ended in the same round to a worse team.

If you were a Toronto fan would you defend Casey, and Lowry / DeRozan and be ok with continuing to go the minor improvement route? Toronto has basically has a very similar situation to the Blazers in my opinion.
Kind of seen the movie quite a few times, pretty good but not good enough.

What the hell was that foul call...?

Why is Derozen still on the bench...?

I don't think we would be too happy with Stotts if he had allowed that; I would have got the ball out of his hands even if it took a triple team.

I’m just curious, do you think there’s some move that the Raptors could make this summer that would get them on the same plane as whatever team LeBron signs with or with the Warriors? If not, are they supposed to toss in the towel and rebuild? Should that be the choice for every close, but not quite good enough team? Should every team that can’t realistically be expected to win a title rebuild? Just suck long enough until you get the next LeBron?

Talk about torturing your fan base.

It looked to me that there was 0.1 of a second left on the clock when James' shot went in. The Raptors should have been allowed to try for a tip in.

A few reasons why I think Toronto is different:

1) They play in the East. Other than LeBron who completely mindfucks them they should do better than they are. The East doesn't come close to the West in terms of talented teams. Put the Blazers in the East and they fare a lot better. Can you imagine getting to play the Heat in the 1st round instead of the Warriors or Spurs or Pelicans or whomever? We've actually fared quite well at home against the Cavs in recent years.

2) Lowry is 32 years old. When your 2nd best player is in the latter stages of his prime instead of just entering it like Dame and CJ it isn't the same.

3) Their salary situation is really bad. Only 11 players under contract next year and they are already deep into the tax and that is without Van Fleet. They have no picks in the draft either.

4) Can they really do any better? Lets say they tear it down, do you really expect them to be better than the 1 seed or would they likely become like the Twolves and suck for 14 straight years? What if LeBron joins the 76ers? How the fuck would any move they make matter? Isn't it better to just be as good as possible and hope you get lucky along the way by catching some breaks or hitting a home run on development or a draft pick or a trade or something? Even if they got out of the East they aren't beating the Warriors as constructed.

The Raptors should sign Lebron.
