Sounds as if Jalen Rose and the big PP don't think Portland can make the playoffs.

Good. We need some doubters. Almost everyone thought OKC was going to beat us last year. I remember the Starters podcast had us losing in 5 games at best. They were convinced we had no chance.

Man Denver hitting on all their risks. Bol Bol looking like a franchise changer, MPJ killin now. Who the hell is running that franchise? Give him a raise

No one talks about Kings as playoff team even though they have same record as Pelicans. Kings have as much a chance as anybody.
Take a look at the veterans they have as role players.
Their depth is probable better than ours.
And Walton is a good coach.

They were in a good position to take risks in that they had a good young team already. And they're still risks - MPJ so far is like Anfernee - can he put his manifest offensive gifts to the service of the team? Will Bol Bol escape injury? He looks like a bundle of twigs. But then again, so did his dad.
The best thing that those guys could do for the team, I think, is be assets in a trade. I still hope for that for Anfernee.

Play in game if they finish 9th? I guess I know nothing about this format. I thought it was 8 games and wherever you land you land?

Here's how it goes. After the 8 "seeding games," IF the 9th place team, say us, is within 4 games of the 8th seed, say Memphis which is now 3.5 games ahead of us, that would trigger a play-in tournament. Here's how that works. The 9th place team must beat the 8th seed on August 15th AND 16th to steal the 8th seed. If we lose the first or second game, we're out.

Look: I get your point. It is very questionable to refer to historically oppressed peoples using dehumanizing terms. And it's entirely possible that my comparison was racist. But: first of all, "inanimate" is a red herring. You can compare anyone to the sun or a flower (or a statue) without it being insulting. You mean "dehumanizing" - like the Nazi tactic of referring to Jews as rats or cockroaches. And second, I think you inferred that I picked twigs because they're dark colored. I did not: I would refer to Shawn Bradley the same way (perhaps they'd have to be birch twigs in his case).
Finally: your "brand" of hyperbole is unhelpful in discussions of racism. If a person of color told me it was not okay or that I'd crossed a line, I would take it a lot more seriously, and definitely delete the post.

I don't think this one will be a hurricane when I gets to Florida, but I've been wrong before.
Mid August on the chances of a hurricane increase.

Boy How about that "Around the NBA Restart Edition" thread?

Seems like it is really keeping up with the times.

I heard Lillard is out Friday as well.

Well at least that caught your attention.
It's what "the word" is. Guess we will find out more tomorrow.
What word? There is nothing about it on Casey, Quick, or Woj's twitter feeds. They'd be all over it if it was an issue. And Stotts said everyone will be available on Friday. Where are you getting your info?
