Around the Playoffs

Well, the Islanders can now regret losing home ice for this series.

Isles with 11 or 12 shots all game, simply not good enough. Caps pretty much dominated the game. Like I said prior to the game the killer was blowing game 2 and blowing the shootout to the BJ's in game 82 which gave the Caps home ice, the true deciding factor in this series.

I think we'll beat the Caps, but it will be a long series, I would say 7 games. This Caps team I thought all season was a real good team and was due for a little playoff run. I also don't like playing them AGAIN as they are due to beat us in a series sooner or later. Don't love it, especially without Zucc, and much rather would have played the Isles, but it is what it is. Now go play most likely Thursday night.

I will say they were very up and down against the Isles. Game 5 they were great and tonight they were very good, but the other 5 games the Caps were nothing special. To me limit OV to 4 goals +/- AND stay out of the box and we'll be okay. Their size and cheapness concern me, but I think we are deeper and a better team overall. I like OV and Backstrom playing together as it hurts their depth. Use McD and Girardi against them and we should be decently okay.

During the regular season the Rangers were 3-1 against the Capitals with 13 goals for, 10 against and 117 shots on goal for and 116 against. (HR)

7 games in 2012 and 7 games in 2013.

Doesn't get much closer than that. And I will say 7 again.

I do think Klein being back is a huge key for this series. Put McD/Girardi against OV and Backstrom. Staal/Klein is advantage us against any other Caps line. And having Yandle/Boyle as the 3rd pair is a huge luxury.

I agree to disagree, Chuck. This is not the same Ranger team. The only thing is they
are playing the same sweater. It will be a tough series.....aren't they all.
We shall see how composed the Rangers will be against the Cap pounding
tactics......it usually takes its toll on the aggressor. This Ranger team is not due
to be beaten by the Capitals.

I don't think you can have Yandle and Boyle together. Two offensive dmen whom aren't GREAT defensively. I really wouldn't mind splitting up Staal and Klein. I'd try Boyle Yandle for a bit and see if it worked, but I have my concerns.

Agree to disagree with what? I said Rangers in 7 games, so unless you are picking the Caps to win the series, which is cool, OR you are picking the Rangers easy, not sure what you are disagreeing with cage.

We'll see which way AV goes. Could go Staal/Boyle and Yandle/Klein, but then you have Boyle against the 2nd line. He may just stack up and match his 3rd pair against the 3rd and 4th lines of the Caps especially at home.

Interesting watch.

I'm happy to see the defense getting to full strength with the return of Klein.

1st round reflection:

Rangers in 5 - team and games correct.
Caps in 5 - team correct, Isles much tougher than I thought.
Habs in 6 - team and games correct.
TB in 6 - most likely team correct, took them 1 extra game.

Blues in 7 - wrong team and wrong in games.
Hawks in 6 - team and games correct.
Ducks in 6 - team correct, sweep for the Ducks.
Canucks in 6 - wrong team, correct # of games.

If the Bolts win 6 correct teams, and 3 series correct team and exact games. Not awful.

Just being the ultimate homer as usual. Makes me laugh.

And I agree Mess...that is a plus even as missing Zucc is a minus.

NYR in 7 over the Caps.
TB in 6 over the Habs.
Hawks in 7 over the Wild (boy do I want to pick the Wild...GO WILD!!!).
Ducks in 6 over the Flames (could be 5).

BTW...how the F do you get THREE shots from your forwards in a game 7...wow that is pathetic Isles.

Game 1 is expected to be on Thursday, Game 2 is expected to be Saturday, Game 3 is expected to be Monday in Washington and Game 4 is expected to be Wednesday in Washington. (Prewitt)

I wish the Saturday game wasn't a very quick turnaround at 12 PM to lead into the Derby, but so be it.

Isles with 11 shots the whole game and only 3 of those shots by forwards as mentioned. That's the way to play a game 7. Not good.

Oh and they went 0-14 on the PP in the series.

Red Wings throttling Bolts late into 2nd period.
Held Bolts to 12 SOG. And they are a NHL Offensive
juggernaut. Playoff hockey is a totally different game.

Oh, the score is 0-0. Detroit is playing a great 'away' game.

It is unbelievable that Stamkos has not scored one freaking goal in this series. What a job by Babcock and the wings.

So Tampa takes game 7 and will take on Montreal. Could we be building towards a ECF rematch?

I'm hoping Bolts take down the snickering,
trash talking Canadiens. They just do not shut up.

In the end of tonight's game, it was Bishop who closed out
the Red Wings. Well, all the series are set. Goalies should
be the story.

Picks: Rangers in 6. Bolts in 6. Ducks in 6. Wild in 6.

Sixes across the board.
