Artest needs to be suspended for the length of the playoffs.

At first glance it really does look like he's not paying attention and accidentally hits the guy. He wasn't facing him, it was in the heat of the moment, and at regular speed it looks like an accident. But when you slow it down, there's just no way that he "accidentally" winds up his elbow like that and clocks Harden in the side of the head. For him to be able to pull that off in the heat of the moment is pretty startling. Makes you wonder how quickly he decided to do it, or if he had decided in advance that he was going to throw a cheap shot at some point in the game.

I've always thought Artest was nuttier than a snickers bar.

I hope he gets suspended for the entire playoffs! That was one of the worst cheap shots I've seen in the NBA.

He calls this a celebration? All I can say is I have a real different idea of what constitutes celebration than "World Peace".

Maybe he means "World in Pieces".

I refuse to call him by that name. His name is Ron Artest... or Ron Ron. Similarly, I refused to call Chad Johnson by that ridiculous name he went by.

Maybe Harden needs to trade in that beard for a skirt. I'm glad someone finally put that trash talker in his place.

I don't advocate plays like that, but when someone constantly runs their mouth, you can expect something like that to happen.

Sadly, there is a slight over-reaction because Artest has a history and he's wearing a L*ker jersey.

As far as I'm concerned, I think the switch has been made in my head, I dislike the Thunder more than the L*kers. So it is what it is. I lol'd at the fake toughness of Ibaka, and Ron grabbing his package.

Harden went down like Apollo in Rocky IV.

"If he dies... He dies."

I couldn't care less what jersey he had on. That was a bullshit play. L*ker everything, Magic Johnson said last night on tv that he was embarrassed to be associated with the L*kers after that play.

The Fakers knew fair and well what they were getting into when they acquired Ron Ron , it was only a matter of time.

Back off, police staters. If you impose legal standards of behavior on sports, that's the end of sports.

'Melo was suspended 15-games for a fight a few years back.

What Artest did was worse. Hell, hitting behind the ear or back of the head is illegal in the UFC and boxing. James could have been really hurt.

I hope Stern doesn't buy Artest's "it was an unintentional elbow' rhetoric.

mmmmmmkayyyy

If Harden didn't get hit OKC would have won in regulation. He was killing the Laker guards (14 pts in 13 min)

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I can find is Kobe talking shit to Harden from a game in February, and Harden talking back to him. Notice that it's Artest who gets the technical, though, and then he walks up to Harden after Fisher's three. Gasol comes over and stands in between Artest and Harden.

Hmm...

I disagree. Criminal charges have been brought multiple times in the NHL and it has not had a negative effect on the sport, but it has reined in the behavior of the known goons.

Artest is a multiple offender, without admission or remorse, and if the NBA gives him a soft punishment like I suspect they will, I hope Harden takes some legal action.

Didn't that have to do with Canadian law and the use of a stick? I don't think criminal charges have ever been brought up on someone in the NHL for fighting, boarding or elbowing

I think the elbow had something to do with how Harden was shredding the Lakers defense. He already had 14 pts in the game. The Thunder are 16-1 when Harden scores over 20 points in a game.

Sad thing is, Artest thought he could get away with it.

I don't know but I think there have been some charges filed for cheap-shot punching during a typical hockey brawl.
I'm not sure if the assault laws in Canada allow for easier legal action, I just want Artest to get what he deserves.
Anyone that does that and plays dumb and innocent is a $%^& nut case and a time bomb.

I've watched a lot of OKC games, and from what I can tell he's constantly talking or doing things to try to get into other players heads, just an example:

I know it's part of the game, but if you play that style, eventually someone is going to respond.

That, and Artest is insane. Harden jacked around with the wrong guy and paid for it.

I found it interesting that none of his teammates went to his aid as he lay on the floor.

From what I can tell, Harden starts in on Kobe. He's staring at him, jawing, trying to act like he's hot shit.

Unfortunately, Kobe is nothing like MJ, because if he was he would have ripped Harden to shreds to the tune of 40 or 50.

OKC's sense of entitlement is what really bothers me, almost all of their players act like tough guys or hot shots. And it's all a terrible act.

People can say what they want about the Thunder, but they haven't won shit.

I've watched plenty of OKC too. SlyPokerDog is full of shit.

When you watch the replay of the Artest elbow, it looks like Harden is the one that initiates the contact, cutting Artest off from running back. You can see him slide into him a little bit.

Once Artest feels him he throws the elbow (and did more damage than he intended to imo).

The thing is, he really cocks the elbow back before he throws it. There just seems like there's too much intent there when you watch it in slow motion.
