Wright is still in his prime at 29 years-old. Owed $3.1M in this final year of his contract in Portland, he is probably Portland’s best legitimately tradable trade chip. He can help fill out the roster for a contender that is thinner at the wing (think Chicago, Cleveland) or he can lend an experienced hand to an inexperienced team pushing for playoff contention (think Charlotte, Milwaukee)—all without a multi-year commitment.

Perhaps most importantly, Wright is a good “package piece” for the Trail Blazers to consider as they look to move Victor Claver. Neither player is playing meaningful minutes right now (or, in Claver’s case, any at all), so the Trail Blazers have little to lose by exploring their options. Teams in the market for such a bundle may find it more attractive with the veteran floor-spacer included.

I just don't see any value for Wright and Claver, except roster space. Both contracts will be gone this summer, so what's the point?

That sounds like our team since we are thin at the wing. Yet, Stotts does not play Wright and for good reason.

It's like Meyers Leonard is Scrooge, and Steve Novak is the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. If anything will scare him into playing like a center, it's Steve Novak.

Novak can nail the 3 and space the floor. Wright hasn't shown he can do that.

Leonard has shown he can nail the three, rebound and pass the ball. Novak likes turtles...

I don't see Wright getting playing time so if this Novak trade failed it wouldn't be much of a loss anyway. Low risk, High reword trade.

Reword?! Is that like "I know I just posted a point that was so idiotic that I must re-word it to cover my ass?"

High reward? He'd get maybe 9 minutes a game here, and give up just as much on defense, if not more, than he gave us on offense. No thank you.

I would LOVE to deal Wright/Robinson/Claver for someone that can actually contribute.

That's more I can say for Wright.

I don't know why so much attention is paid to the bottom of our bench. They are all insurance players in case of injuries. It does nothing really to bring in another guy to sit on the bottom of the bench who doesn't know the offense to start over and replace Wright. I still think Olshey will stand pat until the offseason.
