That is awesome! You should ask Neil for a job. :)

I wore my signed Brian Grant jersey tonight and am stoked we got a solid PF prospect. Kid has strong character and some real skill to build on.

This and only this is the reason for the pick.

Stoked to see Caleb go beast mode on some lower level talent during SL :smiley-boxing: Welcome aboard; bring that work ethic and you will be rewarded:lift:
Good post, welcome to the forums!

You're right, this could end up being the most exciting summer league we've had in a while. While I doubt they ask Noah to attend, if he does I think he's finally ready to destroy everyone out there. I'd like to see him play 1-2 games at a high level, but again I doubt he does.

@Fonzthecpt1 - Thanks! I have actually been a "closet viewer" since 2006, just really never posted before. I agree that Vonleh will destroy if he attends, but I kinda hope he doesn't just so we can see Caleb go HAM.

Personality-wise, he seems similar to Dame. I think Dame is going to really love this kid and take him under his wing to see that he succeeds.

@blue9 - I agree that Dame will likely help motivate him, however I am really intrigued to see the flame reignite in Dame when he sees just how motivated Caleb is! All in all, glad PA has deep pockets, 'cause them lights gonna be on all night in Tualitan :hungry: #Hungry

Totally agree. Listening to his collage coach and team mates speak of him, they all regard him as being motivating in his approach to the game on and off the floor.

Are you Caleb? I would be so happy if you were. lol.

With all that he has overcome in his life, and his work ethic, I think it's hard to imagine him not succeeding in the NBA. To what level remains to be seen, but I don't think we'll be disappointed with this pick.

And you know Portland is going to embrace the hell out of him. And if he produces....

I waa surprised by the pick, honestly. I hadn't done all of my homework on the guy. He seems to have a bit of an old school mentality to the game, which is good. Kind of a cross between Vonleh, Milsapp, Jarian Grant, and Craig Smith.

It seems like he really needs to work on his foot speed to really shine and become more like Milsapp and less like The Rhino. It seems like he had fire and work ethic though, and those are things you can't teach. Working with Mr fire him self, (dame) could be a really good thing.

Agree. Swanigan will give the team 100%, because that is the only way he knows how to do things.

I know he is still young, but with his drive to meet goals regardless of the time and pain it takes. And his high personal values. He will become one heck of a good role model for the local kids. He will be a great addition to both the team and the community.

Every one mentions "Foot Speed" , I doubt that he ever will be accused of be svelte, yet based upon the progress he has made in such a short time, I am not that worried. Lots of slow guys have done rather well.

While I agree Zach will be a role player on this roster playing next to Dame/CJ/Nurkic. But I believe he will develop into a quality role player that does a lot of the dirty work, and can score when needed. A Jerome Kersey level of role player is just what this roster needs.

I thought of JK yesterday and totally agree except that Kersey was not a very good shooter when he came to the Blazers.

His attitude is what stands out. He's going to work for it, no doubt about that. This pick to me means the end of Myers for sure. I still see a role for Ed if he stays but Ed's contract is the closest thing we have to a tradable asset at the moment.

When did this kid lose a lot of weight? I was watching some YouTube of him in college and in high school. He looked heavier in HS but more explosive on a few dunks. I lost a hundred pounds really fast at about that age and lost a lot of strength the way I did it. It takes time to build that muscle mass back.

So, with an NBA training staff and some diet planning this guy could get a lot quicker and more explosive. His shot looks kinda funky but it's really quick and he has good touch around the hoop from the video I watched.

Example in Highschool I weighed about 350 but could bench about 350. Stopped lifting after graduation and went on a pretty much starvation diet. Got down to 250 but could barely bench 150 when I tried lifting again.
