I think the accurate way to describe this draft is to call it the "We're getting Zach Collins and we really don't care about anything else" draft.

Yeah, I think so, too. Olshey seemed pretty hyped about Collins. I see a guy who I question has the frame to put on enough good weight to be a real factor longterm, but Olshey was really ga-ga over him. I look at see a Collison who might have more scoring tools, but those tools might not be enough and actually might be a detriment because, if they don't develop, he might not even fully embrace his role as a role player.

Of course, I don't like the idea of trading two top-20 picks for a guy who I think has a strong chance to only be a role player, so there's that, too ....

Was hoping to trade this pick for a couple 2nd rounders or for more of a ready now piece.

Caleb has clear strengths but his player archetype rarely contributes to winning basketball in the modern NBA.

While I agree Zach will be a role player on this roster playing next to Dame/CJ/Nurkic. But I believe he will develop into a quality role player that does a lot of the dirty work, and can score when needed. A Jerome Kersey level of role player is just what this roster needs.

I think Collins is a better prospect than Collison but Collison, while a role player, was a very good role player.
I remember in OKC's stronger years their best plus-minus player was not Westbrook, Harden or Durant but Collison, whenever he was on the floor their team succeeded.
And again, I think, like you said, that Collins has better offensive tools and a bigger chance to be an impact player offensively, but what they have in common is a very good defensive awareness and impact and the ability to make the team better.
I think we were lacking this kind of big man since RoLo, someone who plays team defense and makes it harder on the opposing team to run the offense. I also like his intangibles, his attitude, being a team first player, and while I don't foresee him as being a volume scorer, alongside Dame, CJ, Nurkic and now Swanigen, that's not what we need. And I think he'd be an effective and reliable offensive player, someone the defenses would certainly need to pay attention to.
What he still lacks somewhat is physical strength but he plays strong, he doesn't shy away from contact, he maybe could have difficulties one-on-one guarding strong inside scorers but even that I don't think is that big an issue, he's intelligent enough and determined enough to hold his ground even in these situations

Sell me on why he's better than Ike Diogu

Rebounding and passing. Swanigan averaged 12.5 rpg and 3.0 apg as a sophomore. Diogu averaged 9.8 and 1.3 apg as a junior. Swanigan is also a better 3-point shooter.

Diogu was even worse in the NBA where he is the biggest black hole I have ever seen. He had exactly zero assists in his time in POR and had a total of 8 assists over his last three seasons in the league. 224 FGA and 8 AST is some serious black hole shit going on.

The next Lavar Ball???

ok, not quite

Yeah, that was weird. He did great until about the one minute mark. Then it's like something clicked, and he had sell his son to everyone, when the kid had already been bought. Odd

The thing was, with this, is he only had that ONE moment.. but other than that he was fine. Get to work. I like that.

This young player can hit the top
of the key shot and above average passer for a big. He not rim protector like Collins is but occasional he can block shots. He also needs to work on his foot work on the offense end. But could be a solid role player before the end of the year. I got to watch him alot this year on TV.

Gotcha. Yeah, I can see that take on it. Probably I was expecting LeVar, and unconsiously picked him apart. I like what I see in the other videos too. Smart. Well spoken. I think he's gonna fit in nicely....

He might have been a bit of a reach at 26 but I don't mind, he looks like he has the tools to become a good NBA player. He has the offensive tools, he can still work on his defence, he's just 20.

His body changes monthly. He looks more in shape today than he did when the season ended. It's pretty amazing to see such a transformation. Who knows what his ceiling even is once he reaches complete fitness.

Hopefully, he's the anti-Shawn Kemp. Like a reverse weight lifestyle Benjamin Button. Instead of old to young, he's fat to sleek. Geek to chic (like the good ol' episodes of Maury and Sally).
