Some silly HoopsWorld article implied with JKidd's decline he might have a hard time getting a MLE deal next season... Would you welcome a JKidd at 50% of what most remember him as for the MLE? Or has he burnt all his bridges?

Me? I'd love to see him come back to finish his career with the Nets, but not if it effects our 2010 cap negatively.

I do recall LBJ and others from the ReDeem team saying they won't play on the 2012 team if he were not on it.

I don't think he's burned ALL his bridges, but he'll never suit up with Vince Carter again.

He's a free agent in 09, so he's not coming to the Nets next summer. He'll probably pull a Malone.

If it is just a one year deal and he's free again in 2010, I'd welcome him back, but there's probably better prospects to sign at that point. Maybe vet's min?

So, in summary, it is just a nostalgic dream.... :sigh:

Wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland gives him the MLE next season in an attempt to keep Lebron in 2010.

... Wow, didn't even think about that. But it would make sense.

I totally agree with you.

1) No way he plays with VC.

2) I see him doing a Malone for a year.

3) If we really want lebron and VC isnt here, I say we get him for cheap and cock block Cleveland.

... Why would he play for the league min. next year? Don't think he can do that a few years from now?

Well it is the house that he helped built....

Correction, I should have said "Pulling a Payton", who signed the MLE with the Lakers in his mid-30s (and that's a team I could see him going to, as well)

I didnt say anything about the league min. I said get him for cheap.

I know, but Malone signed for LLE exception (close to the min) and Payton got the MLE deal.

The price was about $100, lower level, December 19th. Should be a good game.

Oh wait

He will surprise this year.

This so? I think he'll look as slow if not a step slower. if not from the age factor... at least due to the lack of a real offseason. I think he'll have to log minutes in the pre-season too, as there will be a new coach that will want to run new set plays or lack of which his team mates will need to get accustomed to.

He will surprise this year.

I saw nothing this summer on the olympic team that would lead me to believe that.

I think the Mavs became the Nets circa 2006. Unfortunately for them they play in the west.

The way he left NJ and the comments he made, i don't there's a good chance. However, if we can sign him cheap, he can play backup PG to Devin, definitely not starter.

We will never see Jason Kidd in a Nets uniform again. If their one thing Jason Kidd has its pride. And how do you think it would look to come crawling back for cheap, especially the way he left last season? Also this guy is obsessed with winning a ring(which he deserves). Unless we are a power house 3-4 seasons from now, I don't see him coming back to Jersey. I see him signing with what ever team needs a good veteran as a backup to a good young PG*Cough Utah Cough*, with a stacked team that is destined to win the finals. A ring is the only reason this guy is still playing ball. If he had won with the nets in the early 2000's...he would be playing in a charity golf tournament right now on the Vahalla course getting ready to watch the Ryder, instead of giving away gold medals and getting ready for training camp with American athletes that don't "celebrate" the national anthem.

Almost ironic isn't it........

Kenyon Martin won't opt out of his contract in 2010 (I've recently come to terms with this...but it's still a sensitive subject for me :()

Lebron James in 2010, sign and trade (ok ghoti, I'll acquiesce for now, it'll involve Carter)
Jason Kidd MLE 2010
Kenyon Martin MLE 2011

OH SH*T

And yet he desperately wanted to sign an extension with the Nets that would have made him virtually untradeable.

That's ironic.

He wanted that extension though when our team still had a decent core. He figured it made more sense to try to build on what he started here, then leave and try from scratch at his age. But when he saw what direction the team was moving in, he jumped ship. I don't blame him...he wasn't a stupid man. He knew his better days were getting soon behind him and he had to try to get the big payoff. I don't know about you but I wouldn't have minded him on our team even if he was as you say "untradeable".

Actually if I remember correctly Jason Kidd's contract extension came after he became unruly. He would have accepted the state of the Nets for the cost of max money. Based on what I remembered, Montross nailed it.

If you are right and it was after the Nets were falling apart last season, then I wouldn't go as far as to say it was a ploy to get him traded. He knew the Nets were rebuilding and would not give him the cash so by making his agent stress a contract extension or move him, it put more pressure on management to do the ladder. Kidd to me has always been a guy seeking a championship, I don't see a guy who signs a 100 million dollar contract looking for more money...sorry...maybe im just naive.

If Nets offer Kidd an extension at any point, right up to the day he was traded to Mavs, he'd still be a Net.

It wasn't about the quality of the team, it was the cash. Kidd thought he could get an extension from Cuban.

Not interested. His performance on the court will never again be worth putting up with the man he is off it.

I disagree but hey, we are all entitled to our opinion.

We don't need Jkidd anymore. He had served his purpose for this franchise and it was time to move on.

i see him going to the magic. he stated in an interview i read on realgm that dwight howard is a "free agent magnet" and would love to play with him.
