Yup. No big deal. If they weren't going to pass Oregon this week, they would have next week if they win the SEC title game.

This is why I want to play Auburn. If we get to the NC game, I don't want there to be any question who the best team in the country is. If we win, it will be over one of the ELITE SEC teams that have it so much tougher than anyone else in the country because they have to run the gauntlet every year.... blah blah blah

I was hoping to see the black and chrome uniforms in the BCS title game if the Ducks beat OS. If UO is #2, then it looks like all-whites for the uniform. That's really the only difference between being #1 and #2 in the championship game.

That said, the Beavs will be coming out with every trick they have next Saturday. I think the Ducks have too much on offense and defense for the Beavers, but the forecast in Corvallis is 46 degrees and rain, so turnovers can always be an equalizer.

That's a good point. I don't really like the all-whites.

They have the 9th toughest schedule in the nation, they deserved it. Right now Oregon is below Boise State in SOS.

It's only the 9th toughest because the SEC is the 1st overrated conference in the country.

Yeah that's what I thought too, until SEC dominated Ohio State two years in a row in the Finals. SEC = titles.

I think they're pretty good, especially considering that Oregon isn't even close in SOS and Auburn just crushed the champs.

New Mexico and Portland St. killed the SOS. Without those two games it would be much higher.

Oh, and the "champs" are now a 3 loss team. I'm not impressed.

Well how does that explain Boise State though? I mean the gap is too large for me to be upset.

The champs definitely ain't the champs this year, and Ohio State is pretty damn overrated as well. I'm not saying Oregon has the best SOS, but come on.... the SEC is sooooo overrated in terms of how good the conference is overall.

Btw College is the only place I'm still loyal to my local teams. I'm an ACC/Sunbelt guy. ; )

LSU, LSU, Florida, Florida, Alabama, and also Auburn was undefeated in 2004 but didn't get a shot at it. Sam Bradford came in with 50 TDs and he got stopped too.

I can't blame them for respecting the SEC, don't worry you're still #2.

They're good teams, no doubt, but the PAC 10 doesn't get nearly enough respect.

I'd rather have #2. #3-8 are already done, so beating Oregon State is a guaranteed NC appearance. It'll get settled on the field.

This isn't a big deal.

That said,Auburn has beaten many ranked teams, and as good as Oregon may or may not be, they have had a pretty easy go of it in the PAC 2 this year

You are going by opponents win/loss record. That is BS. Utah is not a better win than Alabama... but according to that it is.

Sagarin's SoS has Oregon at around 20.

What is your proof that the Pac is as subpar as you claim?? I posted the Pac's OOC wins earlier as proof not all is as claimed.

I would say that Stanford is better right now than Alabama.

Stanford would beat Bama by around 10 on a neutral field, IMO.

Especially if Bama is without their starting QB... last I heard he was injured in that game against Auburn. Not sure what his status is now.

My Auburn friend was saying that they have a tendency to injure the other team's QB with that (bad) defense, and they've done it four times this season. Recalling last year's NC game featuring another SEC team and Texas's starter. Maybe that's how they do things. Look out DT, you don't have a back up anymore.

Ah well, if there's some more advanced metric I'm always curious to know.

the funny thing is that Oregon has the lowest Sagarin SoS rating in the Pac-10, largely because they haven't had to play the Ducks

STOMP

And now the AP. Good, good, good. Chip on the shoulder. Underdogs!

Auburn #1 in AP, Oregon #1 in Coaches, Harris will be close. BCS will go to Auburn. Championship will go to Oregon. Oops... :)

Newton is a monster.

Props to Oregon for making it too.

How many times in the history of the CFB has the #1 lost his ranking in the AP, Coaches, or Harris without losing?
