I googled this quickly, but was hoping one of you guys had experience with the situation.

I have a Kenwood DPX302 cd player in the car that has an AUX input in the front that looks like a standard headphone jack. I bought the cable at Radio Shack that has the male end on both sides, but when I plug it in to the stereo and my iphone, I get nothing. The stereo doesnt recognize there is anything in the AUX jack so I cant pick that source. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

that's weird, it should be able to switch to AUX even without anything plugged in.

I followed the manual and pressed the source button... but only "standby", radio, and CD player are available.

have you tried it when the ipod is playing a song, might have to have that to detect.

try another device on it to see if it works? maybe a different cable.

Maybe this is the problem... maybe I need to turn the AUX option on. Now I gotta figure out how to do that. :)

AUX Input: The DPX302 is equipped with a front panel 3.5mm minijack auxiliary input for connecting external portable audio devices such as an MP3 player or Tape walkman. The receiver allows you to select between the following AUX settings.
  • Off: the source button does not scroll through the AUX input when function is turned "off"
  • Aux 1: turns on the AUX input for use
  • Aux 2: turns on the AUX input in the attenuator mode - press the attenuator button to activate sound
Auxiliary Display: The DPX302 allows you to select the source type displayed when using the auxiliary input. You can choose from AUX, DVD, Portable, Game, Video or TV.

throw it in the gutta and go buy another.

my stereo switches to auxiliary mode as soon as the male penetrates the female
