iPhone 7

Had mine for almost a week now and love it. I jumped from a 6 plus to 7 plus. So this is my first time using the "force touch" feature and love it. Camera is fantastic. I can tell the difference from my 6 for sure. Very happy with it. And it doesn't catch fire or explode, so thats a bonus right?

All joking aside — and before other sites catch wind of this story and go crazy with it — this clearly appears to be an isolated incident, at least for the time being.

Well, let's hope so. I do carry that puppy in a pocket that's awfully close to the family jewels.

Could be. Time will tell. Facts are facts though and it did happen.

How does a "dead" iPhone catch fire?
Most likely was dead because it malfunctioned. The battery having power does not mean the phone has to work.

My note4 is getting old. Just after I was talking shit about my wife's Iphone in this thread my battery life started getting wonky.

I'd just started leaving it plugged in all night and the life has shortened and the phone will shut off at 17 percent sometimes.

The battery is likely going. I'm hoping to wait until the LG V20 comes out and not spend any money on this.

Oh, plus he said he kept it in his back pocket. Probably bent it slightly thousands of times. Damaged some connectors or something.

Fuck it, just ordered a nexus 6p. Don't need the newest greatest phone. I don't wanna wait either.

For years and years, I was an anti-Apple guy. I thought the hardware was way overpriced compared to what you could cobble together from parts or buying a higher end ready made system (something like Alienware before Dell bought them).

The issue was that I had to use Windows or Linux on those. I ended up choosing Linux in the end, and running Windows in a virtual machine for the few apps I needed or cared about that Linux didn't provide. Any Unix or Unix-like operating system is superior, IMO, to Windows.

Ultimately, macOS has the best user interface I've ever used, and the more I use it the more I like it. Given that you can't legally get macOS on a homebrew PC, Apple machines are the only real option. Linux has a wide choice of desktop environments, but what kills it is the lack of high quality apps. Stuff you download from the Apple Store or even from 3rd party stores really works great. A Gnome app for Linux running on a KDE desktop just doesn't look right, and in general, many of the apps feel amateurish in comparison.

Beyond the software, the hardware is plenty good enough and in some cases revolutionary (think 5K iMac). That Apple controls all the hardware components in the machine means the operating system and drivers can be better tested and made as bulletproof as possible. With a cobbled together machine, any one driver that doesn't play nice with any other of your components and their drivers is really ugly.

When it comes to phones, it's the same deal. iPhone releases have massively improved the user experience of an already fantastic all around phone/software package. You can buy a phone with faster CPU or other components, but you don't get iOS. Without iOS, I'm not interested.

I'm past the need for the best components at the expense of lesser experience.

I have a Galaxy S6, too.

I'm having a hard time figuring out which phone you prefer, but I'm pretty sure barfo likes a different one.

i hear the battery life on the iphone 7 sucks balls

I am still happy with my Nexus 5X - but I did order one of them new Google Home speaker AI bot thingies.

Man, I'm loving the nexus6p I just got so if this new one is a lot better that is going to be a nice phone.

This thing is a year removed from introduction and it is super fast. It lost speed tests to the iPhone but the difference is small. My note 4 is another year older than that and was never this fast.

Nexus doesnt have all that bloatware bullshit. They are really great phones for the price.

I'm loving my 6P. I've had it basically since launch. The 2 things I'd change are adding back wireless charging (though the thing charges extremely fast, so I miss it less than I thought I would) and the speed to launch the camera. It takes great photos, just is slow to launch. Apparently the Pixel solves that issue.

I'll probably pass on the phones, as there is no major reason for me to upgrade, but I might pick up the wifi (replace my old airport extreme) and google home.

Here's another example, I will sometimes plug my phone into a small stereo system that I use when I'm out on my deck or working in the garage. I'll usually plug it into the charger as well. That won't be possible anymore. I would have to go buy a bluetooth stereo.

@Natebishop3

Check these out. I have one for out by the pool. They seriously kick ass!!!!

I bought this in March and I have only had to charge it twice. It has two 3prong power outlets you can plug your phone into. You can plug an extension cord into it and run a lamp or something too!!!
Ive never had to turn it up past 4 to rock the backyard.

Do you have nougat or marshmallow? I haven't updated it yet.

I signed up for the beta program just to get the OTA immediately. It kind of killed my battery, so maybe wait for the official OTA (I think they are rolling out). I just got another update yesterday, so maybe that'll fix the battery issue.

I'll hold off. Thanks. They always ruin something with every update.

Selling my 6plus if anybody is interested. Great shape, works perfect, no scratches, UNLOCKED! Holler!

Pretty sure you have to disclose that you took it too Brazil and it might be carrying the Zika virus.
