AV blew this series...

bottom line a team with Mark Messier Brian Leetch and Adam Graves wouldn't let themselves be shut out in back to back games the would find a way.

Why do you care SO much that we got shutout back to back games? why are these losses different than if they had lost 6-5 or 2-1 in both? Did the Rangers never lose 2gms in a row when Messier/Leetch/Graves were here?

because when you get shut out you try even that much harder....its mental ...a last minute goal in game three would have meant the world.

you don't think scoring on MAF would lead to more goals?

I know Graves would beat the shit out of both Malkin and Crosby. Mess would've slashed Neal's ankles and we would be on our way to a series victory!

Graves did a LOT of fighting for mess. He was pretty much his bodyguard. Beuk would beat the shit out of anyone who fucked with number 2. God, I miss those days.

Series is far from over, but the Rangers have to come out tonight and just pound the Pens into the ice. Get the fans into the game early, and don't let up ... That includes you as well Mr. Nash!

All Messier would have had to do with Nash was glare at him, and he would have either started playing a more physical game by driving to the net, or would have requested a trade.

After he peed himself he would have asked for a trade

if you think rangers are winning this, ya crazeeeeeeeeeeeee!

AV 's personnel decisions esp. in this game was way over the top!

You're right Pasta.. We're all CRAZEEEEEEE here because we're going to the ECF!

Why even bump this 31. Can we ALL please just be happy and not start shit. WHO CARES who said what. We are here and moving on after an amazing comeback. Just ALL enjoy it as Ranger fans...PLEASE.

this BLANK proves himself with every post, nothing but an antagonistic blank ! adds absolutely NOTHING

I'm glad the Rangers seemingly got as angry with their play as we were.

Speaking of coaches who suck, Bylsma needs to go. Consistently underachieves with this team. And does anybody else see the similarity between how Team USA went out in the Olympics and how the Pens looked lost the past few games?

Two totally uninspired performances. It's not a coincidence. I've said it for years, he's a crappy coach who's gotten lucky with the talent he's had.

Totally not fair sorr. and I know ill take heat for this, but why is it always the coaches fault for underperforming players. Is it his fault orpick was injured? Is it his fault his number 1 goalie is a basket case prone to meltdowns? There can only be one winning coach every year. I guess pat riley was no good with the knicks, he never won. Sometimes you have to blame the players just as much. What huge decision did bylsma made in this series that you woild say, wtf. .what is this idiot thinking?

You know why you take heat Al? Because under your thinking a coach would never ever ever take blame or get fired. Of course at days end the players produce or don't produce. That is the fact of it. BUT just like everything else there are good coaches and bad coaches. There are good players and bad players.

Now I think Bylsma is solid...I do. But the fact is since their cup in 09 the Pens have been bad in the playoffs. That simple. Not sure it can be argued. They only have 1 ECF in that time as well. That is despite being a fav almost every single season. And having 2 of the best 3 or 4 players in the NHL for most of that time (Cindy did miss time of course).

Now MAF has cost them in the playoffs a few times pretty much on his own. And again I think Bylsma is a solid coach. But I think it is time for that team to get a different voice behind the bench. No shame in that. He has done a good job there overall, but it is time for a change in Pitt. All good.

Chuck I will agree that over time there needs to be a change in voice. That much is certain. You nailed it with your statement that "Now MAF has cost them in the playoffs..."

My question is still the same, did the coach make any head scratching decisions that you said man what is he doing. Is he the reason Crosby played more like rick nash than derek brassard.
Perhaps its the coach on me that hates to see blame being placed on the coaches head.

That's fine Al. Like Chuck said, we know your story - the coach is NEVER to blame, right? Do you still think Torts is a good coach after watching the disaster in Vancouver? He's not to blame for any of that, right?

I stand by my statement - Bylsma is not a good coach. A good coach gets more out of teams that have the kind of talent that the Penguins and Team USA have. A good coach gets his team to consistently overachieve, not underachieve.

I'll be shocked if he's not fired.

A lot of people didn't like playing Crosby and Malkin on the same line. Made them very much a one line team. There's one for you.

Look, no point in discussing this Al. Your view is clear, it is never ever the coaches fault. It is the players that produce or don't produce afterall.

All I know is I wish I was a coach for a team you owned...job for life...:).

And he will be fired for sure IMO.

He will probably get fired b/c it's easier to get rid of 1 coach than many players, though they probably do need a different voice.

They have underachieved in the playoffs since '09, but look at MAF's playoff #s since the Cup win in '09

09-10: 2.78, 89.1%
10-11: 2.52, 89.9%
11-12: 4.63, 83.4% (lol)
12-13: 3.51, 88.3%

Those are terrible numbers for a goalie if you expect him to lead you deep into a playoff run. Is it the coaches fault MAF sucks as much as he does? how much responsibility should he have vs. the GM for not upgrading at the position?

Bylsma is a very good coach. One of the best in the game.

All factual stuff, but it may just be time for a different voice as you said. It is not always a knock when a coach gets fired. He has had a ton of success in Pitt, no doubt, but sometimes it is time to change it up and start with a new coach. Sometimes that voice just runs its course. No shame or harm in that.

And BTW...at least a 50/50 shot they buyout MAF also. Maybe sign Hiller.

I think it was a mistake waiting until game 7 to split up Crosby and Malkin. They might of seen more success had they done that earlier but then again they were up 3-1 in the series. Then again lol that had a lot more to do with the Rangers playing like complete crap than anything I feel the Pens were doing.

This is what I am talking about, I agree with you that it may be a change in voice needed. I just feel that the coach gets way too much blame, as you have noted, BUT...and this is where this board really goes overboard with the crap, I NEVER ONCE SAID TORTS WAS THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD! I have made numerous comments stating how the change to AV was good. I honestly due feel that if given a regular season and training camp with Gabby and Nash, things may have been different last season.

And yes I think it is completely dumb to fire a coach after one season. It was going to happen because the GM got canned and a new GM should pick his own coach, did he do a good job in Vancover, NO. Did he make questionable moves as the Rangers coach, yes. Was he the reason the Rangers did not win a cup. Umm. NO.

How it works Al. Coach gets blame. Sometime coach gets too much credit. Same with a goalie or a QB. The way sports works.

Do you feel with the above highlights that another coach would have done more? If so, who. And I will agree that all coaches do have a certain time frame before you have to move on to another coach so I again will say it is probably best for a change.

Oh Al...you just don't get it man. No point in continuing this. All good.

No coach should ever be held accountable or fired. No issues.

wow..you are a brickwall with this shit I mean really, where did I say that NO COACH SHOULD EVER BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE OR FIRED. I agreed with you three frigen times that as far as the length of coaching that the voice needs to be changed.

All coaches go into the job knowing they have a shelf life. Some longer than others. All of them even the greats usually end up getting fired. Very few get to walk away on their own terms. Belichick for example is a rare example of a guy who looks like he has a lifetime deal or atleast will stick around as long as Brady still plays.

No no...you never actually said those words Al. But EVERY SINGLE COMMENT YOU WRITE ON THE SUBJECT SAYS THAT. You don't actually have to say it Al when everything you write clearly says it man.

Again, let it go bro. I think we all know your feelings on coaches. It is clear. You defend every coach and say the players play. That is your stance. All good man.
