Rape starts with attitude. There are societies that have much higher rates of rape than others and we all have the same human genes. Attitudes towards women, towards violence, what is admired in a man (physical toughness vs. mental/emotional characteristics), overall security, wealth equality and opportunity - these are what impact rape. Not gadgets. Mind you, I think a woman is justified in doing anything to stop/catch a rapist, but tricks ultimately won't solve the problem.

Do you know, there are countries where young girls, 14, 15, 16, walk home from movies and parties at midnight and no one thinks to worry about their safety?

If this device was used in the US, there would be an increase in the number of rapes ending in murder. Hopefully the guy would kill himself after the rage died down but women would literally be killed.

It is the year 2010, we could modernize the chastity belt and equip them with pepper spray that gets anyone within 3 feet of it when the belt is removed improperly. It could be all digital and have a code that is required to remove it. If I were a woman, I would rather get the pepper spray along with the perp over getting initial penetration. With this stupid condom, you only get raped for a few seconds. I would rather just NOT get raped, but that is just me.

I also think that 99 percent of rapists should probably just be put down like a rabid pit bull, if someone raped someone I loved they better hope they get a long long long prison sentence to delay what they would have in store for them from me.

Because if a woman is NOT wearing the gadget, a defense attorney will use this to say "obviously" she must have "wanted" to be raped.

I would point out that victims' services groups, who know more about the issue than I do and certainly than you do, are unanimously opposed.

I just don't think people who are against the idea of this device have really thought it through. As a guy, I don't care how enraged I am at somebody--if my dick is enduring multiple lacerations and hemorrhaging blood, it's my new number one priority.
