Why would we hateth each other so? Let us count the ways:

We play in the same division
We have one of their most popular former coaches
And one of their most popular former pro players
And one of their most popular former high school players
And one of their most popular former journalists (an open debate whether this is a reason for them to hate us or for us to hate ourselves...)
We (inadvertently) exposed a rather sophisticated power grab scheme against their owner by their now former GM (Kevin Pritchard) and AGM (Tom Penn)
That one time we traded Roy for Foye
That one time Kevin Love beat out LaMarcus Aldridge for an All Star spot
We acquired Martell Webster from them, then accused them of being liars
Then we demanded draft picks as compensation. An issue that still isn't resolved
Then we tried to sign Nicolas Batum for way more than they think he's worth, in a summer drama that resulted in them insulting our state and the rest of America calling them nuts

never heard of them, have they won 30 games in a season in the last 5 years?

Uh oh, i bet there will be a large influx of cawk pics now that the timberpups have been mentioned here.

How so?

In their minds maybe.

Reality: They are as much of a rival as the Cavs are to Portland.

In other words, no they aren't.

Wake me when the Wolves are a relevant franchise.

It was based off a league wide SBNation.com poll. Each franchise' local site picked a rival. BEdge picked the SuperSonics... Fucking hipsters can't even pick a team that's still around!

BE really is full of homer hipsters.

One of the rumors in Seattle is that the T-Wolves are a team that could become the Sonics. Now THAT would make them rivals.

Considering we have absolutely destroyed them over the last few years, I don't think they even remotely resemble a "rival".

IP Address Minneapolis

I think most of us really think of the Blazers as being a Pacific Division team anyways.

We have one of their most popular former coaches

wait, thats a reason?

And one of their most popular former pro players

it's when they start taking away the former amateur players, thats when things get serious!
And one of their most popular former high school players

Terrell Brandon?

And one of their most popular former journalists (an open debate whether this is a reason for them to hate us or for us to hate ourselves...)

wait...who are they talking about?

They hired Chuck Culpepper?!

We (inadvertently) exposed a rather sophisticated power grab scheme against their owner by their now former GM (Kevin Pritchard) and AGM (Tom Penn)

by how?
That one time we traded Roy for Foye

I think that would be a reason why they hate Portland? I guess the poster combined the reasons?

That one time Kevin Love beat out LaMarcus Aldridge for an All Star spot
We acquired Martell Webster from them, then accused them of being liars

Yeah, Blazer fans are sooo mad that the Wolves got jobbed by taking on Webster. grr...we hate you!
Then we demanded draft picks as compensation. An issue that still isn't resolved

hm, again..seems to be combining reasons from them and "from us".

Then we tried to sign Nicolas Batum for way more than they think he's worth, in a summer drama that resulted in them insulting our state and the rest of America calling them nuts

wait, they tried to sign Nicolas?

I hate to say it, but is this what it feels like when Laker fans hear us talking about how our two teams are rivals?

No, because the Laker fans (who matter) can actually name more than 3 current Trail Blazers. They remember game 7, as much as they remember the 92 playoffs, and the 91 playoffs, and the games against the Clyde Drexler lead teams.

They actually hate playing against the Blazers, because they know the team brings it (at least, in Portland) and the fans bring it. They REALLY hate losing to Portland (although know in the playoffs, there isn't much of a worry).

Portland fans? Lose to Minnesota? Meh..

They've played in the playoffs once. 12 years ago. Big whooop

Naw, bro. Nothing tops a regular season game where the Garden is rockin "Beat LA Beat LA"

Seconed, LA players are very aware of recent win/ loss records in PDX

I cant even imagine Tpups fans chanting to beat portland through out a game..lol

You guys do bring up good points, i notice they get really pumped up and overcompensate when the two teams play as well. Minny? Meh.

I wonder, when my cats go hunting, does the mouse think it's a rivalry?

There's bad blood, that's for sure.

Remember when the JR Rider Blazers played the Garnett Timberwolves in the first round and EVERYONE picked the Wolves to win? How did that turn out again?

That, and only that.

I concur. Especially when I remember that Brandon Roy went to UW. A Seattle guy that used to play in Portland but is playing in Seattle now would piss me right off.

Please, do tell us when the JR Rider Blazers played the Timberwolves in the first round and EVERYONE picked the Wolves to win. And tell us how it turned out.

Because it didn't happen.

The year AFTER he was traded to Atlanta, the Blazers played the Wolves. And I'm not sure that the 59 win Blazers were the underdogs to the Yippin' Puppies.

What HS player were they talking about?

Fuck Kevin Love! That bitch is from the suburbs....... he's not from Portland.

No such thing....... you are either from Portland or not!

Put all the links up you want. If someone asks where you are from, do you claim Portland? You shouldn't, you don't have the right. Neither do people from Gresham, Oregon City or The 'Couv.

I have the right to say Portland metro area though. That said, if someone asks where I'm from, I say Tualatin. If it's obvious they won't know where Tualatin is, I'll say "Tualatin, it's a suburb of Portland" or "Tualatin, it's a little south of Portland."

Are those okay with you? Do I have the right to say the word Portland?!

If you aren't from Portland, you can't claim it. Sorry.

In none of my examples did I say "I'm from Portland."

Regardless, I'm proud to say I'm from Tualatin because I think it's the best suburb of Portland.
