Aww, Rudy's Dissapointed, how sad

He was healthier the year before and he played better with Sergio. But the bottom line is he is a back up 2 guard on most teams. He will never be happy.

He was asked to more, and he couldn't (or didn't) deliver.

So he was asked to replace an All NBA 2 guard and didnt meet his standards... yes he didnt do great in the playoffs, I'm not arguing that. But would you say he was put in a position to succeed? I wouldnt.

I'm not talking about the playoffs. I'm talking about the entire season. Rudy was worse last year than in his rookie season. The coach was the same. Blaming Nate for everything gets so fucking tiresome around here.

Nate used Rudy the same this year, as he did last year?

Not only that, but while Rudy was worse last season, Bayless/Batum/Oden all got better.

I agree with Rudy.

I too am disappointed.

But in Rudy's play and attitude not in his roll on the team.

For fucks sake Rudy, stop talking to the paper about how you were wronged and start playing better.

If nothing else it will increase your trade value so the Blazers can move you to a team you fit better with.

but its ok that we disagree... I'm not trying to be one who puts all the blame on the coach. I personally feel this team has outgrown Nate as a coach, and while I like him as a good coach to instill discipline in a young team. But this team is no longer in need of a drill seargeant to instill that into them. He has done a good job molding them, but I dont feel he is the coach to get them over the top.

Judging Nate's ability to get this team "over the top" by this year's playoffs as any sort of accurate assessment is completely unfair in my opinion. Plus, given what the players say, he's no longer a drill sargeant. You seem to be basing your opinion on Nate when the team was terrible. If I had to coach Zach Randolph, Darius Miles, and some talented rookies to try and win more than 21 games, I'd be a shitheaded hardass as well.

IMO all of Batum's three's were wide open or totally set

IF we have a low post presence and some ball-movement Rudy will be priceless

It's awfully hard to prove it, but I distinctly remember thinking that Rudy's shot opportunities were nearly identical to the one's that Nic had; a lot of corner and wing threes taken off of swing passes, or occasionally off of drives and kicks ... Rudy's chief problem was that he either wasn't hitting or he'd fart around with the ball, dancing in little circles in a vain attempt to get separation, Nic on the other hand started to show glimpses of being able to put the ball on the floor at times and take a pull up 18 to 15 footer or drove the baseline on a closeout. So forget about what he might provide if he were on the floor with more dominant post players for a second, he's an incredibly one-dimensional player and he regressed in a big way in his second year as an NBA pro, that's not on Nate, that's not on the offense, that's on him (minus the period of time when he was hurting with the back injury).

Ok instead of Seargeant I can add "overly controlling"? This team needs the reigns loosened... he needs them tight as possible. And no judging him in these playoffs are not completely unfair. To expect a Championship with the injuries we had.. yeah that would be unfair. But to expect him to be able to at least make some adjustments without it taking 2 games to figure it out.. that isnt unfair IMO.

How do you adjust to your limited PG being handled by Grant Hill, your 2nd leading scorer doubled in the post, and your three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player out for the first three games, then hobbled with injury for the rest of the series?

Winning two games against the Suns was fucking incredible. Hell, the Spurs got swept, and they were supposed to challenge for a title this season.

Rudy played very well in Nate's offense last year. This year, given an expanded role since Outlaw was basically gone, he failed.

Rudy played well on the second team with Sergio because they were allowd to open it up a bit. Rudy also shot the ball exceptionally well last year. His game didn't change, but his shot wasn't falling as frequently, and he wasn't running in a wide open system this year.

Then why are you agreeing with Mediocre Man in blaming Nate's offense, when you seem to be saying that he can succeed in Nate's offense as long as Oden's a part of it? I'm confused--what's the bigger contributing factor to Rudy's sub-40% shooting: Nate's presence, or Greg's absence?

I am not blaming anything on Nate's offense. Some players simply play better in a more wide open system, like Rudy did last year with Sergio on the second unit.

he isn't producing well. he isn't happy and talking trash about the team. just move him

This is pretty much it, isn't it Regardless of the situation, if the system isn't changing, Rudy needs to go.

so he all of the sudden lost his skill?

That is one possibility. His back injury could be worse than he or the team is letting on.

The other option, is that the problem is between his ears.

Either way, he has no gripe with Nate, KP, or anybody else. It is either nobody's fault, or his own fault.

Nate's shitty offense didn't give any chance, hopefully Sarge Iron's it out this Summer

Really don't want to see Rudy go, he brings something very special and unique to this team

I won't go that far, but I do think Rudy could be utilized better. But he made a lot of very bad passes last year with the ball and I lost some confidence in him.

For Christ's sake. Just one fucking post, please?

What in the world can be wrong with what I said?

If a coach runs a certain offense, regardless of what it is, the players on the team need to adapt to that offense or they should be moved. If Nate's offense was designed to get the post involved, Joel probably wouldn't be a good fit. You need to relax, and understand that I am not criticizing anyone here.

Rudy needs the chance to flourish in a D'Antoni-type offense. Look at the wonders it did for Sergio's career!

What does Sergio Rodriguez have to do with Rudy Fernandez?

Oh I see, they're both Spanish

not that I like how Rudy played this year, but what about fewer starts, fewer minutes, fewer shots, and less usage means he was given an "expanded" role?

I do agree that Rudy gave up a lot to come here and I'm sure the pitch to convince him to come over never went like, "Join the Trailblazers and spot up on the wing and be our all-star shooting guard's caddy," but he'd be a lot more sympathetic if he could just shut his fucking mouth and channel all that "dissapointment in being decieved" into his game instead of giving off horrible body language and basically sulking to the Spanish press.

Rudy doesn't seem to play well in Nate's offense. And since that is the offense we have, Rudy should go.

After loosing to the best offensive team in the first round I know Sarge has realized it's time to transform his offense in some way. Take pressure off B-Roy and increase the overall efficiency.

IF, Nate stays with the exact same system I'd say let him go

I'm banking on the former

Spanish Press pulled a fast one on you sulky Blazer Fans. You guys don't understand the culture of the EU press, that's what an interview is, whining about something

Yup nuthin' to see here, everything's goin' great

Rudy isn't worth the distraction he's become. At least our other mediocre players like Bayless and Mills know t keep their mouths shut.

Agree. It's not often that I sincerely dislike players on the Blazers, but thats how I feel about Rudy. He barely brings anything to the team, and he whines all the time. GTFO Rudy
