This is a huge concern. Plus he always jumps in the air when he is driving with no where to go with the ball. Were gonna need to bring in some good assistant coaches or we good be looking at another Adam Morrison.:pimp:

Ya, a quicker release is a must.

I hope he brings us what Adam has, 2 NBA Championships!!!

LOL Morrison 2 Lebron 0 Hope it stays that way too

Seems like KP was right again. He drafted Oden because he said 1 would win championships and the opther would win scoring titles. With the news that KP wanted the Stache over Roy, it all makes sense. Stache 2 > Roy 0

I know the comparisons have been made between Babbit and Chris Mullin or even Luke Jackson, but watching him during summer league he looks so much more like a less annoying, slightly shorter Troy Murphy. Babbit probably won't ever rebound as well as Murphy, but he'll score a little more.

I've always liked Troy Murphys game, so I don't think I'd be that disapointed if that's all that Luke ever becomes.

...and yes his shot release is really slow.

Should of taken that shooter the spurs got. He will be the steal of the draft, James Anderson. Or at least eric Bledsoe. KP did the same crap last year with Blair. Pende over Blair? REALLY?!?!?!

It's worth noting that Bledsoe looked terrible in summer league. Wait until the season is underway before we start getting pissed about who we didn't draft.

Name the last good white boy at shooting forward. Yup thats right..... LARRY LARRY LARRY LARRY

Well, Chris Mullin's already been mentioned, but he was kind of a contemporary of Bird's (a little younger, though). How 'bout Mike Dunleavy? He's been OK. Mike Miller's been a decent 3. Kyle Korver. Jason Kapono. Andres Nocioni.

Or does a player have to be an all-star to be "good"?

Babbit seemed to adjust amazingly from the first to the last game... very good sign. I don't see him as someone that will be forcing outside shots... just taking what is given him... which really is what most of our team does... maybe to a fault.

Adjusting to SF will take some time... that is *if* that is where he plays... but it seemed to be where they were playing him in summer league. May change in regular season. He seemed to think his D was better than I did =) but again... I think he will adjust. I can remember plenty of players that had a ton of problems getting shots off that became very efficient on the offensive end... Zach Randolph seemed to just sh0ot at peoples hands there for awhile. He did have a strained achiles also.

I think LMA has more in common with Bird then Babbit. Larry had the quickest release of just about anyone ever. Man Larry was just freaking nuts. Also don't forget Chris Mullen was great as well. If only Mullen wasn't an alcoholic. I loved that team at GSW run TMC one of my all time favorites.

We'll see about Babbit it's possible, but I'm not holding my breath.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any 16th pick. =) Definitely hit and miss.

Also, his release point, at least on his threes, seems to be way out front instead of close to his head. Hope that makes sense, I've never really played organized basketball, but it seems it would be easier to block out there.

I mnow for me anyway, I don't have a problem with 16th picks being hit and miss. But giving up a servicable player and cash to get somoene you aren't pretty damn sure is a player is dumb.

He looks like he is pushing the shot instead of shooting it. It's why when he misses, he misses left. That should be easy for a shooting coach to fix

Babbitt will make 1.6 million this year and Martel 4.8... that is another reason that trade was made.

In that last game I was more impressed with Babbit's handle and passing. So many times I thought to myself, "If Martell has the ball here, he stands and waits for a guard to pass it to." Instead Babbit dribbled the ball ahead himself, and pretty competently. His turnovers mostly came on dribble drives where he got into too much traffic in the paint.

He also had a couple of really nifty passes that hinted he was a lot more comfortable with the ball than he looked in the first four games. One behind-the-back pass that stood out he made on the perimeter was just smart, accurate and not showy. Webster's passing was always obvious and unremarkable.

He also had one really nice post up move in the last game that showed me he's comfortable down there. Backed his guy in, spun, rose and took a short jumper that looked right out of Roy's playbook. It was so fluid--you could tell he's got some skills there.

His shot is a little low and a little slow, but he clearly showed he can make them in that last game, particularly if left wide open. And he should be open a lot with so much attention focused on Roy/Oden/Miller/Aldridge/Batum. We've got so many offensive weapons that he'll never be more than the third option on any lineup this year (except in a blowout), so he should be seeing those kinds of shots--the kind that have made Blake's career.

I was really, really down on Babbit after the first three games, and even that fourth one was a little iffy. But I really liked what I saw in that last game.

I won't be surprised if he stinks in the first few preseason games. If he was intimidated early in Summer League, I can only imagine what it'll be like for him at the Rose Garden. But I'm going to try to reserve judgment on him until December or so, when hopefully he'll have seen several garbage minutes games because we've blown out the opposition.

Yes Babbit has a couple of problems commonly associated with young players. But a lot of players have to rework their release to make it work in the pro's. (Including Ray Allen). At least he has good springs so he can elevate, that is one thing you typically can't fix on a player.

The last 2 games he looked like a different player really... you can tell he was finally feeling comfortable... which is hard for a big guy to do in summer league... even one playing SF. I also like some of his outlet passes... sharp and quick leading to a break. Once he grabbed the rebound... took it all the way up the court and for the between the leg move near FT line... not something you see from many big men.

Babbit takes a hour to get his shot off

If that is true he has a great future in porn if the NBA thing don't work out for him.
