<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> November 15, 2006 -- Maybe the Nets just were born too late.

They've surrendered 107.7 points in their three defeats, just 91.3 in their three victories. Looking for the positive, if the Nets were playing with those 107 numbers in the '80s, they would be a virtual steel curtain.

But they aren't. So they're a team searching for the path to consistency in the embryonic stages of the season. But there is concern. Look at the defensive numbers. In victories, opponents have shot .387 (103-266). In defeats, the Nets have been recipients of a collective .476 (119-250) butt-kicking. And win or lose, they get pounded on the glass (45.7-39.5).

"They should concern us," Cliff Robinson said of the lopsided defensive stats. "If we want to hang our hats on defense, it definitely should concern us. It's still early in the season, but at the same time we have to look at those games and understand for us to be the kind of team that we want to be and have the year we're trying to have, we've got to play better defense." </div>

It is a concern. We were blown out against the Sonics last game, and the big factor was that we gave way too many offensive rebounds. That and Luke really killed us.

If we find consistency and have no injuries, not much can stop us.

That is one aspect besides post play that we need to approve on if we want to be legitimate contenders.
