Sorry, but I just need to vent.
You know the old saying about "bad things come in 3s"?
A couple of months ago, my father-in-law buried his 3rd wife. As he was 89, this was understandably hard on him. 2 weeks later, he was diagnosised with cancer, and given 6-9 months. 6 weeks later, that was cut to 3-6 weeks. 4 days later, he died.
My wife and her sister have been estranged from their 3rd sister for several years. Yesterday, they decided it was time to reach out to her. They found out she is in a hospice in the Bay Area, with stage 4 bone cancer. She is too heavily medicated to talk to. Any hope of a reconciliation is gone.
Needless to say, my wife (and her sister) are devestated. I feel so damned helpless, it is horrible. There is just nothing I can do to help.
