Wow.

Last night on Courtside. MB talking about how disgusting the Rockets fans in the Toyota Center were, throwing beer at Kevin Pritchard and yelling the n-word at Martell Webster.

That just made rooting for the Lakers in this series slightly easier to swallow.

I look at it the other way around. Root for the Rockets to win this one for the double enjoyment of seeing the Lakers lose and seeing the Rockets fans come crashing back to earth when they lose in the next round.

Is that for real?

Well, look at it this way. They have to live in Houston. That's punishment enough.

I'm baffled by their stupidity. How can you drop the N word on a player from the other team? You see what I'm saying? How does this make any sense? Their stupidity goes beyond all logic. Fuck them.

But I cannot root for the Lakers. I don't hold the Houston TEAM responsible for their idiot fans. I hate the Lakers and their fans more.

Yeah, it's a little surprising since the Rockets have some diversity on their team and their biggest star is Chinese, and the city of Houston is one of the more diverse cities in the U.S. I just hope it's a few idiotic and stupid fans who got drunk and got way out of line.
The thing that irks me is that the security people in Houston didn't know what to do. Throw the idiots out! How hard is that..

The concept of insulting an opponent for having the same skin color as 75% of your own team's players is just completely ridiculous to me. It would be like yelling at a woman to get back to the kitchen where she belongs right in front of your wife/gf. Morons.

I have one thing to say to all those ignorant Houston fans:

Maxiep, you do realize that sign is from one of the "teabagging parties" that I believe you support?

Wrong. That picture is at least four or five years old, probably older.

While the comments and actions by some Houston fans that were reported by MB were despicable, I don't think it's fair to demonize the entire fanbase of the Rockets for the actions of a few people. I don't think that Houston has a monopoly on jackasses and I don't think that the Blazers' fanbase is immune to them either. Alcohol + playoff atmosphere + jackass = ugly behavior.

First, you've already been corrected as to the timeline.

Second, you're against people peacefully protesting something they believe to be wrong?

Exactly. Is it the Blazers' fault that MIXUM pretends to be a fan?

Thats just a few bad apples, I wouldnt sweat it to much. There are some serious a-hole blazer fans also, especially when you get a few beers in them.

Yep, like I am sure that Vernon Maxwell ran into the crowd and punched a Blazer fan for absolutely no reason in the past. He just goes crazy and runs into the fans and punches a guy. Sure...:devilwink:

Even assuming the report is true, it's insignificant. Portland fans have certainly done at least as bad (see: Vernon Maxwell being taunted with racial epithets and regarding his dead daughter in 1995), but I have no qualms rooting for the Blazers.

First, I saw that photo recently and it was billed as an anti-immigrant protest leading up to the teabag. If I have been misinformed I apologize.

Second, no. People may peacefully protest whatever they like. I reserve the right to think they are making idiots of themselves when no one can figure out what they are talking about.

Hey crandc - on this board, no one cares. Take your politics elsewhere. That had nothing to do with the topic.

Amen. This is exactly what I said last night. When they asked KP about it all, he danced around it, and while comparing Portland fans to Houston fans, had nothing bug high praises for the behavior of Blazers fans, while basically saying Houston fans were exact opposite. It was pretty obvious he was trying to be diplomatic, but that he felt Cockets fans were complete and utter garbage...the dog shit on the underside our one's shoe.

Yeah, you'd think. I mean, Yao is one big injury away from producing NBA gear, rather than wearing it...

They live in Texas. 'Nuff said.

Wrong answer. You fail. Congratulations!

When a large chunk of the crowd chants, "Portland sucks" multiple times, or several fans were enraged by Portland's standing ovation for Mutumbo, when he was injured in Portland, it's pretty clear their fans are worthless.

I was there that game. Three rows, about 9-10 seats to the left. Dude was a bitching and moaning, and deserved to be hit. That being said, I've heard way worse from many fans, yet they didn't get their appetite fed by a fist (at least not by that of an NBA athlete). Mad Max wasn't given his nickname by coincidence.

Their fans were enraged by that? That's just stupid if true. I mean it doesn't even make sense. Did they want us to boo and throw stuff at Deke? On second thought, that's probably what they'd do to one of our players.

Fuck em. For the first time in my life I'm rooting for the L*kers.

Note: "several" Houston fans were upset about our standing ovation for Deke. I saw "fans" complaining on message boards, I saw it mentioned in an article or two. They were offended we'd give an ovation to their player. Bullshit, bitches. He had a good career, and aside from the mentioning of his rumored interest in strippers/prostitutes, never heard much negative about him.

Same reason why I can't root for the Rockets, as worthless as the Lakers, their fans, and *edited*

Fuck their fans. I'm sure those few people don't represent their whole fan base. Go Rockets!!! Great team to root for. Yao is a big man who has actually put in the time to learn how to make free throws. No Hack-a-Yao. And Brooks is from The University of Oregon. Worked hard to become a starting PG in this league. Wafer has worked hard to carve a role for himself in this league. Before every game that I saw last season when Wafer was with us, he was working on his shooting obsessively. And how can you not root for Adelman after all the close calls he's had with us and the Sacramento Kings. This might be Houston's year. That thrasing at the Rose Garden might've been the start of a magical title run.
