Wow, a bargain.

I'm getting worried.

This is good news.

It kills the rumor of using Millsap as a chess move for Hinrich and using our cap for Bass.

I am not sure that is cheap.

I like Bass, but I'm not sure that one of Pendergraph or Cunningham will not be almost as effective (for the very few backup PF minutes available) for a fraction of the price.

I like that thought process!

This is not good news. At least, not with what we know.

We lost a secondary move incase Milsap is lost. I don't think Milsap or Boozer will be lost, but stranger things have happened.

Another top contender improving their roster. Bass is a perfect back up. I think Milsap is a better all around player, but I still don't think he is going to come here. Utah loves this guy. And if you watched him play, you would too. He is an old school type aggresive force. Losing out on Bass and Milsap would be brutal. As far as Pendergraft and Cunningham? Do you really want Rookies, who get called for fouls if the blow on somebody, being our backups?

I am telling you it is much easier to just expect nothing. That way I don't get upset when stuff happens. In fact, more and more I am just laughing because it is such a total clusterfuck of an off season. At least the rookie interviews lightened the mood yesterday. :drumroll:

Man... Bass even admitted he wasn't looking for a big payday, and he got around exactly what he wanted with a MLE-type salary. Ugh! I would've LOVED to have had him here, especially for that price and the minutes he would've played. In the words of Kenny Vance, "GOSH DANG, SON OF A GUN, GOSH, GOD BLESS AMERICA... SON OF A GUN!"

this type of logic does not belong here

Good time for a picture of D-12 with Bass? Too early?

And if they don't? They could surprise us.. who knows, but I don't really expect too much from second-rounders, especially to be a key rotation player on a top-four in the West playoff team.

Then we're right back to square one and finding that bruising-type, energizer backup PF. I liked Pendergraph's video yesterday on O-Live, thought he seemed like a good dude, but these guys still need to prove themselves.

10-15 minutes per game of quality play from our backup PF is going to be crucial for us, and will be the difference between having LaMarcus play 35 mins per game, or having to play 40-45 and wearing him out by the time playoffs come. It may seem like very few backup minutes, but you can't disregard how important they are over the long haul of a season.

Excellent signing by Orlando. Bass was high on my list, but instead of freaking out, I'll take a deep breath and move on.

What is the logic of assuming a player that hasn't played one second of NBA basketball being as effective as a proven player?

It is possible that one of the two second round picks might be as effective as Bass but it is more likely they wash out of the league in two years.

In fact, using reason you would be extremely pissed Bass is going to Orlando.
With Bass, you know for sure what you are getting barring injury.
The odds of 2nd round draft picks being quality players is very low, much less them being as good or better then Bass.

Which is now all moot, since we have to hope one of Portland's 2nd round draft picks bucks the odds and become a decent contributor this year. I think there is a place where you can look up the odds of that happening based on draft position. My guess; the odds are less then 10%.

LMAO @ someone thinking that a couple of second-round rookies could have nearly the same impact as established NBA players who have played significant minutes in big-time games. Oh man that's rich.

:biglaugh:

Well they could. But its silly to assume they will.

I was afraid this might happen. That is a great bargin and if KP doesn't act soon we are not going to get anything as good as Bass. I want a PG upgrade but it doesn't look like it is going to happen and backup banger PF is the 2nd biggest need IMO. Bass is perfect cheap and wouldn't mind playing backup. I think we are missing a big chance to improve our team.

Honestly, what the fuck are we doing? Sometimes I wonder if KP has figured out how to turn on his cell phone yet.

I'm coining this phrase: The rich get richer while the Pritch gets Pritcher.

It's also silly to assume they won't without seeing them play a single game.
Really? Is it silly to assume that a coin won't land on heads 3 straight times? Odds are, it won't, so I'm to assume that. I won't be shocked if it does happen.

This.

KP dicked around trying to sign a starter to be a backup for big money when they could have signed a back up to be a back up and still have money to spare.

It is mystifying.

Travis Outlaw is still on the team and he'll pretty much play backup PF.

Hold the Outlaw suck comments, because that's just foolish to say. He's one of the better 6th man in the NBA.
